3925 total surrendered at Mariupol so far
DonbassDevushka Telegram ^ | 5/20/2022 | Russian Defense Chief Shoigu

Posted on 05/20/2022 3:57:25 AM PDT by Mount Athos

Already 1,908 nationalists have surrendered in Azovstal, before that 1,387 marines laid down their arms there, Shoigu said.

Civilians who were held there by Ukrainian nationalists were also evacuated from the plant - 177 people were rescued, including 85 women and 47 children, the minister said at the collegium of the Ministry of Defense.

The 1908 number is an increase over 1730 or so reported yesterday.

The 1398 from ilyich plant is counting surrenders that occurred many days earlier in Mariupol, largely marines.

From other sources, there is chatter that there may be some Azov leadership that haven't surrendered yet. Deputy commander Kalina was earlier reported to have surrendered but posted a video denying it.

American and European news reports on the war are on the laughable level of WW2 Tokyo Rose and Axis Sally. They are obviously written by our politicized intel agencies and handed to the controlled Mockingbird Media.

To get anything like an objective view of the war, you have to follow foreign OSINT mappers and analysts like the Singapore-based vlogger Defense Politics Asia.

‘some Azov leadership that haven’t surrendered yet’

Some of the leadership remains inside, and speculation is they may commit suicide rather than surrender.

Some of those who surrendered are being charged with war crimes and crimes against civilians for acts that occured during the 8 year Dombas war.

Thank you. There is also a large Donbas Ukrainian group of forces simmering split into three pincers. They are in between 30-40,000 troops down from the original force of 90,000.
Once they are done, I have no idea what are the Ukrainian plans, but I’d recommend unconditional surrender.

I think after cutting off the Donbass cauldron and forcing a surrender, Russia will probably move on Odessa, without attempting to occupy it. But I'm just guessing about that. Taking Odessa and forming a land bridge all the way to Transnistria in Moldova might become a top priority.

Almost al of Ukraine's best troops are now trapped in the Donbass and are facing encirclement. They can't be replaced elsewhere in Ukraine with untrained 15 year old boys and 50+ year old men.

I question whether Russia will move to take Kharkiv or Odessa: cities are tough nuts to crack, and they may not want to force another Mariupol (this time without the Azovites to defend).

Simply by continuing the sea blockade of Odessa, the Russians deny Ukraine a port for exporting their cash crops. (Which won't be harvested this year in any case.)

OSINT posted the strangest things yesterday, with multiple posts from Ukrainian side claiming that there was renewed fighting at Azovstal. They have since deleted all of those posts. Not a good look for OSINT

The numbers are being confirmed by the red cross as they are registered as POWs with them.

The situation in the Donbas cauldron is getting worse, the Ukes should pull a Dunkirk and get the heck out of there. Zelenskyy’s idea of leaving them there to grind down the Ruskies is crazy.

“From other sources, there is chatter that there may be some Azov leadership that haven’t surrendered yet.”

No one SURRENDERED, rather they ‘evacuated’ - that was the ONLY term I saw on Western media for the first 24 hours when large numbers started emerging. Don’t you trust our media? The same media telling us that Putin is losing bad in Ukraine.

And now that they are ‘evacuated’, they can be repositioned to again fight Putin. (although that will be in the afterlife)

Neocons are bribing the Ukes to keep fighting to wear down the Russians. Zelenskyy is sacrificing tens of thousands of troops to appease his overlords.

Agree, I suspect that Russia will be willing to let Ukraine keep Odessa and Kharkiv if they work out a suitable peace deal.

If not, then those cities will be lost too. And those cities will be easier to take, also, as Russia was being very careful in Mariupol, due to most there being Russian-speakers if not ethnic Russians. Not as much in other cities.

As it has been from the beginning, Ukraine gets to decide what its final size/shape will be, and whether it will be landlocked.

The “brains” behind this strategy are the same brains that masterminded the Afghanistan withdrawal.
