Connecticut schools will soon be required to teach climate change as a part of the science curriculum, a move state legislators and advocates say will mean changes at a small percentage of schools that aren’t yet bringing the subject to the classroom.
Close to 90 percent of schools already teach about climate change, but it will be required by state law beginning in July 2023, said Rep. Bobby Sanchez, co-chairman of the Education Committee.
“We heard from teachers and from students that were concerned that climate change wasn’t being taught,” said Sanchez, D-New Britain.
The bill passed the Education Committee 31-8 and had bipartisan support, Sanchez added.
Recommendations from the state build the foundation for learning about climate change as early as kindergarten, when children learn about air and water, said Susan Quincy, an environmental education outreach specialist with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Real Climate or the Fake Leftest Climate ? Oh wait ,LOL
Not necessary, this is basically the only topic taught in public schools.
I think kids today don’t believe 90% of what comes out of teachers
I bet they don’t teach about the Ice Age, you know, when sea levels were 400 feet lower than today and the ice sheets melted over 10,000 years before mankind invented the SUV.
Oh double$%%^$ING hockey sticks. The planet just drowsed over a decade ago because Al Gore. Now Climate Change is non fiction just like Howard Zinn.
I bet they were already talking about all this global warming business in school, even if it wasn’t part of the official curriculum.
And it will work its way into math, as the students work on problems such as, how much reduction of carbon dioxide is needed to reduce the temperature by 1.5 degrees Celsius, the sorts of things Greta Thunberg talks about.
Oh, more following the science eh? CLIMAGEDDON IS NEAR!!!!!
That's climate change Michigan.
We are now in an inter-glacial period. The climate is changing whether we want it to or not. Earth science doesn’t go back to just their Marxist revolution. It goes back billions of years.
This would be fine if they addressed both sides of the issue. But we all know that won’t happen.
Yah, unless the law is well crafted (i.e., I give that 0-5% chance) there will be ways around the lies.
Just pose the contention of the global warming parasites and then lead the class thru debunking it.
There, you’ve talked about CChange (aka global warming, cooling, or as the IPCC defines it: our chance to destroy capitalistic economies).
Disinformation.
So how do you explain so many Democrats?
In other news, CT shoreline properties will be sold for pennies on the dollar due to the “climate emergency” of rising oceans....
Oh wait.
Any CT kid who points out that the climate change emperor has no clothes is gonna learn a lot about life in a hurry.
Good morning, class.
The climate changes - always has; always will.
Until the end of time.
Any questions?
Class? Class? Class?
.
Of course, those islands are still the same since they were created at the last ice age..
