I wonder if we should start classifying these obvious propaganda pieces as "vanities" on Free Republic?

For instance, this is a Brendan Cole vanity posted by a FR neocon fanboi.

And we all know the rules on vanity posts...

Because our news/information is censored and controlled most Americans BELIEVE the indoctrination we have been subjected to. Unfortunately, though for our owners/elitists/oligarchs (call them whatever you wish) there is now an abundance of factual information available outside of their control and more of us are slowly becoming aware of reality.

It is going to be interesting to watch the lights come on for our fellow freepers who have been waking up more slowly.

Ukraines losses have been huge. Russia had high losses in the initial state, but have been averaging double digit per day for the last 6 weeks; while Ukraines have been between 400-700 a day.

I feel like people have this debate every time, so I’m going to write this down as a standard response.

1) Rybar’s numbers are based on internal general staff reports. I have seen the formatting of this stuff, where casualties would be listed by unit. This data is incomplete, hence the statistical extrapolation. I remember how the 53rd brigade was dropped from reports despite its remnants apparently still fighting in the field. The brigade command had been killed, so no one was doing the reporting.

2) Rybar’s numbers are also incomplete because they do not account for Territorial Defense, foreign legion, or the nationalist formations. The nationalist formations are technically a part of the National Guard, but the National guard stopped reporting casualties in the first month. Same with the border guard service. Rybar’s numbers are conservative because they only work with the one service they have numbers for, the Armed Forces.

3) The abnormally high number of killed to wounded is indicative of the nature of the fighting. Air strikes often collapse entire structures with everyone inside, with few or no survivors. Since the Ukrainians are on the back foot, they also don’t do a good job of retrieving their wounded. K:W ratio based on some of the unit data I’ve seen is consistently near parity. They may also not count certain light wounds as casualties and only record those taken out of action for an extended period.
