On March 23, standup comic Sampson McCormick was performing at the Win-River Resort & Casino in Redding, Calif., a venue he’s headlined many times over the last decade. But this time was different because it ended with him getting punched in the face.
It started when a female heckler interrupted his act, and McCormick, 36, made a few jokes at her expense. “I wasn’t mean or anything, just roasted her a little bit and she got upset,” he said.
“The next thing I know, a big, burly man came rushing up to the stage and hit me in my jaw.”

Friendly person: “Good morning!”
A conservative’s response: ”Good morning!”
A liberal’s response: “What do you mean by that?”
“From what I can gather, these days comedians are only allowed to make fun of Trump. Any other target will get you a bump on the noggin.”
During the George W. Bush presidency, I got a satellite service for my car as I was driving long distances at early dark thirty and I needed some comedy to keep me awake. There were four comedy channels. Only the country channel wasn’t nearly 100% political. Saying something mean or ridiculous about GWB or Republicans always got a big applause. Here’s what I learned. If an audience laughs, then it’s funny. But if they applaud instead of laughing, it isn’t funny, but they agree with it. Almost every show was all applause and I never so much as smiled. I got so pissed off I cancelled the service. (That was after installing it in an expensive dash.)
Another takeaway was about who attended these shows. They were usually recorded at comedy clubs, in Las Vegas casinos or big name, big city theaters. I’m guessing that in a huge percentage of those shows the audience was liberals. There was one highly liberal performer lambasting GWB and apparently someone was leaving the show and he started picking the guy leaving and I heard the guy say, “I’m leaving because you aren’t funny and you’re offensive.” Then the performer really went potty mouth on the guy who obviously just left as the performer was getting louder and more strident and less funny...although the crowd applauded.
There was a BBC special on humor in Hitler’s Germany. I couldn’t find that one. In it the presenters described comedians being beaten up for not towing the Nazi line. It was an hour special. 99% of comedians are woked out liberals anyways. Who cares if they are getting the crap kicked out of them. They helped create the monsters doing it. I’m cool with it.

I’d love to see someone try this with Joe Rogan during one of his comedy routines. I don’t always agree with him but I have watched him train MMA and he is a National class level athlete for a guy his age. Especially his leg kicks - he can absolutely brutalize a heavy bag. - big dents. Expert Muay Thai and Black belt Brazilian Ju Jitsu. Which is probably why he would refuse to engage if confronted.
