During an interview on MSNBC on Monday, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) argued that social media platforms should be regulated, but “You don’t have to regulate speech, you can regulate misinformation. You could say, you can’t yell ‘Fire!’ in a theater.” There are “many ways you can abrogate speech rights that are consistent with the Constitution.” And that for “an 18-year-old to develop such hatred in his heart through media platforms that do not have any regulation is a problem. And so, we need commonsense, thoughtful regulation.”
Gillibrand stated, “The problem is, you have a mentally ill 18-year-old who had this kind of ideation, who falls into rabbit holes within our social media platforms that aren’t regulated and have no basis, in terms –.”

Yes, we should regulate misinformation like people claiming that masks worked before they didn’t work before they worked. And we should allow freedom of speech like Donald Trump in Russia with hookers. Then we can all live in a peaceful and happy liberal Marxist utopia.

In talking about hatred we must interject the riots of the recent past, especially those by antifa and BLM, the protests in the streets of Washington, NYC and elsewhere, and of course, those going on now threatening the supreme court justices. These are all demonstrations of hatred, not just internet posts, but action, often violent action. But watch and listen to them - it is pure hatred.
People hated each other long before there was even a written language; this shooter showed himself in the open before the shooting, so someone should have said something. If it had all been censored then even the possibility of stopping him would not have been there.
