As an interesting aside, Walmart devotes two aisles to various protein supplements. Between jocks and vegans and those recovering, there is a huge demand.

Out of curiosity, I checked the baby formula section at my local supermarket (Fred Meyer) yesterday. As with many other items in this age of rampant shoplifting, baby formula is now enclosed in a locked glass case. The supply looked about 40% depleted and there was a limit on purchases-per-customer, although I don’t see how they could prevent the same person from coming back on different days.
