I think you hit on the real story here.

In recent years I've noticed a trend of violent offenders 70+ years of age getting paroled despite their "life sentences." I suspect the prison systems in most states want to get these losers off their books so they don't have to pay for their health care costs late in life.

Exactly right.

A study a few years ago show the cost of elderly inmates is over 3x of the younger ones. IDC what they’ve done.... if they are too old to be a threat to society and they’ve done decades in prison, let their families pay for their elder care.

This decision has absolutely nothing to do with the cost of maintaining the inmate in prison.

This is a high profile radical revolutionary who executed an officer. The New Jersey Supreme Court is extremely left wing.

Reversing the parole board to let him out is a disgusting immoral and radical political message.
