WHY did the Pentagon place this article in the media?

So Russia won't even THINK about trying to take on the US military.

The irony of a forum full of people talking about how worthless the UN is and suddenly assigning credibility to them when it suits their fantasies.

Isn't conservative hypocrisy when it comes to war something to behold?

Smart to do.

Stupid to announce.

Correct.

The Biden admin is deliberately horrible. They may be worse than the Wilson administration.

Well the UN is worthless, because after that vote, the UN resolved to do nothing. But it is an indication of the level of world outrage at Putin's invasion. When even Switzerland drops it neutrality, that cannot be discounted. More than 25 countries are supplying weapons to Ukraine.

Exactly right. The UN is useless and corrupt, but it can gauge the view of the various nations. And show how one must really be an extremist to side with Russia, as the 100-0 US Senate vote also demonstrates.

So, Russia has been degraded to a point where they can not hit back? They must just take it without doing something? Time to give Iran an A-bomb or two? Or let one “Slip” into the hands of terrorists? This can not end well. China may hit us with another fever soon—Like Covid? Try Ebola? Watch Russia move into Cuba soon. I tell ya, this will not end well for the USA.

What was that old saying? “I do not know what WWIII will be fought with but WWIV will be fought with sticks and stones.”

In your case, because only an imbecile or a psychopath calls for detonating a nuke on anyone.

You may have thought it was just a cute statement, but once any nuke goes off, all bets are off everywhere - and if you have any speck of rationality, you'd know that.

No, you're not for the USA. the USSR maybe but not the USA.

Consider “Pootie Toot” now stolen by me! Pooty is now tooting after a meal with beans in it, washed down by five fingers of best Rooskie vodka.

No different than what Reagan did to oppose the Soviets’ invasion of Afghanistan.

Depends on if the Russians think it is different. The Russians, err, Soviets, gave North Vietnam vast amounts of equipment and training, and even hands on assistance, to help them shoot down US Aircraft over North Vietnam. The US military was displeased, but accepted it as a cost of doing business during the Cold War.

I think the Russian military will be displeased about us helping the Ukrainians take out Russian tanks and aircraft in Ukraine, but will accept it.

But killing Russian Generals? I dunno.

[Meeting of senior Russian Generals]
Q. "Well Yuri, how is it going in your sector?"
A. "Not well, the Ukrainians keep taking out my tanks and attack helicopters with Javelins and Stingers."

Versus:

[Meeting of senior Russian Generals]
Q. "Well Yuri, how is it going in your sector?"
A. "Yuri couldn't make it Sir, because he is dead.
Q. "Well where is his Deputy Commander, Ivan?
A. "He's dead too Sir. And the Chief of Staff. The Americans gave the Ukrainians targeting data for Yuri's headquarters."

Will the Russian Generals just write off the loss of numerous colleagues as a cost of doing business? I am not saying that we should not be doing this. I am saying that we should not do this without very carefully weighing the dangers, and I doubt very much that we have done so. Especially given that the Russian Generals being killed have not performed very well, and their replacements may well be better. Think of how much short our Civil War might have been if the Confederates had killed Banks, Burnside, McClellan, Pope and Rosecrans in 1861.

Of course, the Putin Fanbois on Free Republic constantly assure us that Ukrainian claims of killing Russian Generals are "propaganda," so I guess there is nothing to worry about.

/sarcasm

How many UN generals killed by Soviets/Russians/Commies in Korea? How many Nato/US generals killed in Vietnam/Middle East conficts?

I believe that there have no US Generals killed in combat since WWII. One died in the Pentagon on 9-11. One died from SOJ (Sudden Onset Jihadism) when he was shot by an Afghan "ally."
