I think Zelensky is just doing what he’s told to do. The West (in my opinion) doesn’t want this settled quickly. They want a drawn-out Afghanistan/USSR scenario they think they can win over time. Who cares about Ukrainian cannon fodder, I believe the thinking goes.
No doubt on the Poland claims. Galicia and all of that.

Russia was never going to allow Ukraine to join NATO. Its just a geopolitical reality. There probably was a path to peace that would have avoided this catastrophe (by agreeing to not pursue NATO membership) but that seems to be a lost opportunity.
This conflict only deepens as the costs rise. The real danger is some type of miscalculation that sparks a direct confrontation between Russia and the West. Who knows what that might lead to?

This has never been about black hats vs white hats. These people have never known democracy and freedom, so they’ll take what they can get. Unlike Hitler marching in and being welcomed by many only to squander away all the good will, Putin is doing this smartly. Yeah these people are easily manipulated, but I guess they prefer troops handing out food and water vs handing out bullets and bombs, which is all Zelensky and his attack dogs have given them in the last 8 years.

You are incorrect about the people of the Ukraine. They have known freedom and democracy. Unfortunately Putin and his soldiers are trying to take that away from them.
But that's not who the Russians are killing. Are you the kind of person that celebrates the death of innocent civilians and the rape of teenage girls? That's really what any Russian "celebration" is about.
