The U.S. government faced a potential nuclear crisis in 2020, when Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley, fearing then-President Donald Trump would order the U.S. military to strike China, plotted to thwart any such directive with a scheme that one prominent Republican lawyer likened to “‘The Caine Mutiny’ with plutonium.”
The podcast was taped with New York litigator George Conway and Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carol Leonnig on the panel. All three, to varying degrees, expressed skepticism as to whether Trump will ultimately be indicted for his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election — despite the substantial evidence that he and his allies mounted a pressure campaign in Congress and with state officials to achieve that.
Woodward said, “If the Justice Department, the federal government, indicts Trump, they solidify Trump as the 2024 Republican candidate for president.”
Woodward argued that there are more pressing issues Congress and media should be grappling with, most urgently the prospect that a “crazy” president could on his own trigger a nuclear war.
“It's less important that Donald Trump be prosecuted than that … we should perform the operation of the 25th Amendment,” he said, referring to the constitutional provision that authorizes the Cabinet, with the consent of the vice president, to declare a sitting president unfit for office.
The country faced such a potential crisis in 2020, when Milley, according to reporting by Woodward and his co-author, Robert Costa, in their book “Peril,” feared that an unstable Trump was about to order a nuclear hit on China.
“My God, the Chinese thought we were going to attack them before the 2020 election,” Woodward said. “Gen. Milley and people in the Pentagon were — and not just disturbed, were apoplectic about it, and apoplectic about Trump and his mental state.”

I’m not sure where this 25th Amendment mantra ever took hold.
Has anyone actually read it? Impeachment is far easier to implement.
This article was written by Soros operative Michael Isikoff, who distinguished himself with his ‘koran in the toilet’ article for NEWSWEAK.
I think Woodward has been delusional for half a century, and he only sees ‘crazy’ when a republican is president.
There should be a 25th amendment for journalists, where they should be declared unfit to report or comment on anything in the news or about anybody. Woodward could easily be ‘25th’ into a crazy house.
Conway should concern himself with his dumpster fire of a daughter.
Pornhub actress in less than a year, dead before 2030 if they don’t get her help.
They need to worry about the loons who are in charge right now.
Isikoff presents sleazebag George Conway as “New York litigator.”
GEORGE CONWAY
We have an incompetent and corrupt ‘President’ who is surrounded by incompetent and corrupt clowns ... what could go wrong?
Hell with the 25th Amendment. You wanted him. You got him. Keep him.
BOB WOODWARD
No sense of irony there. What about the lunatic in office right now, one who prods the bear, among other things by sending our incompetent SecDef to Ukraine, urging Putin be removed, and other bonehead moves?
The gaslighting never stops. RIGHT NOW we have a president who seems mentally compromised and has taken us to the brink of war with Russia, yet these freaks are worrying about a potential Trump presidency in which a nuclear war is triggered. But Trump was the only recent president who DIDN’T start a new war!
What a disgusting bait and switch propaganda piece.
MUTINY A-OK !!
Orange Man Bad !!

Sounds like Milley is the crazy one.
Sorry, Bob.... while you might be right, your slomo ways and reputation are done..... you’re a no-talent twit who dragged 15 minutes of luckup fame into a lifetime. Just go away and expire.
They’re talking about Trump.

Impeachment implies a crime or serious wrongdoing. Neither Ike’s, nor Wilson’s situations, nor the hypothetical JFK situation implied any kind of wrongdoing on their parts.
So they wrote the 25th Amendment with all kinds of safeguards installed to prevent a sort of coup d’etat.
