A slew of prominent “woke” Democratic politicians including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez want to remove the name of the late ex-Mayor Ed Koch from the 59th Street Bridge — but foes are blasting the move as “cancel culture out of control.’’
The push for the name change is being propelled by the Jim Owles LGBT Democratic Club, whose leader, Allen Roskoff, despised Koch for his belated response to the AIDS crisis.
The club has sent out a questionnaire to pols seeking its endorsement — and one of its queries asks, “In view of the fact that Ed Koch has been documented to have caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people with AIDS, and was blatantly racist, would you support a city bill to re-name the former Queensboro Bridge?”
“Do you authorize the use of your name for such a purpose?” the questionnaire adds, referring to whether the pol would be OK with his or her support being made public.

You must be new here. Koch was a asshole, and dishonest as hell, and the local media went after him on a daily basis. The national media clearly showed everyone he was a clown.

Funny you should mention the Nazis. It’s not hard to see what’s happening in NYC. The demise of longtime House member Eliot Engel (D-Israel) in the 2020 primary was a perfect example of it. The days of a Jewish politician representing a constituency that is 15% Jewish and a combined 70% among various minority groups are over.
Why blame Koch? Never fear, Tony Fauci is here! He spent a 40-year career NOT finding a cure for HIV. Curiously, I’ve been reading reports of how certain people that have taken every COVID jab and booster are now developing AIDs-like symptoms.
They should start with the Tappen Zee Bridge, and dump the disgraced Cuomos.
Save the kneejerk rabid dog response for someone else. Koch endorsed Guiliani for mayor and also Bush 43 for President. Name one other prominent Democrat who did something similar.

On another note, had it not been for AIDS, we would not have had the huge push for homo marriage and all that followed.
Agree, I don’t know what drugs some of the people here are on, but they can’t even figure out Ukraine, so I doubt they have a clue as to what condition NYC was in, during the 1980s.
Koch did not kill anyone with AIDS. Once it was conclusively discovered how the disease was passed and that knowledge was made public, then the responsibility for getting the disease belonged to the person who got it.
The exception of course being transfusions.
It is truly something to see. Liberalism never sees anyone as responsible for their own behavior.
