How Musk will put his mark on Twitter: New boss wants to ditch ads in favor of subscriptions that can be bought with Dogecoin, introduce longer tweets, turn HQ into homeless shelter, fire woke staff and kill bots

Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter will see substantial changes implemented on the social media platform with everything from longer tweets and paid subscriptions using 'joke' cryptocurrency Dogecoin all within the realm of possibility.

He is said to favor temporary 'timeouts' for users who break the new rules, rather than permanent bans such as those given to Donald Trump. . . .

Details of his immediate plans are slim, but the Tesla chief portrays himself as a free-speech absolutist. Other mooted changes include blue verification checkmarks for anyone who subscribes to Twitter's premium Blue service, which costs $2.99 a month.

Musk is said to favor a subscription-based model over advertiser funding, as it would make Twitter less beholden to advertiser pressure. He has even suggested users could pay with cryptocurrency, including joke currency Dogecoin which Musk has long had an affection for.

I suspect Musk will use Twitter as a portal to Starlink.

Think of all the built in customers he just bought.

Plus, with a direct connection to satellites, you won’t get cancelled as easliy.

Never joined Twitter, never will. I had Parler, Gab and Gettr. Got rid of all three in February because I never used them. Been here 24 1/2 years. FR is all the socializing I need.

It’s interesting to see how many “clueless” people have started electric car, spaceship, and satellite companies. I assume they all post on FR.

“Running a ‘free speech’ forum isn’t going to be as easy as he thinks.”

Especially with all the leftist “activists”, the media, and the Rats gunning after him.

He’s alienating all of the Tesla fan boys. He was their hero yesterday, he’s quickly heading toward becoming their worst enemy tomorrow. I hope he realizes the challenge ahead for him and he’s ready for it.

But I’m rooting for him 100%.

Lots of hard-hitting facts in this report I see.

I heard similar on the radio "news" report here yesterday.....Now this wouldn't be the media doing what the media does here would it?

The usual mindless garbage from the bottom feeders at the Daily Mail?

Not just the Daily Mail...the MSM at large. Hey, millions of people fall for their tripe every day. Why not post a bunch of speculation to manipulate the public mindset?

Yup, I can’t see a subscription service to avoid ads. Perhaps offer both? Log in on subscription and get no ads. Otherwise, ads will be there.

Killing bots would be good.

Completely agree. After Twitter’s current tyrannical censorship, its next worst problem is bots. I’m not talking about the spambots that appear all the time promising thousands of dollars per month for working at home (and which hilariously always draw a few people who are determined to tell them off), but rather the leftist bots that appear en masse immediately after every tweet by any prominent conservative. Trump’s tweets were plagued by them. Every time he tweeted, the first hundred or so responses were snarky tweets by either bots or armies of leftist trolls. The fact that they ALWAYS appeared first makes me think they’re algorithm-driven in some way.

most of what’s in this article is stuff musk was trolling the world with ... i noticed D.M. excluded musk’s notion of removing the “w” from the name “twitter” ...

A conversion to subscription will kill Twitter.

Not likely to kill Twitter, but it will temporarily reduce its value. Musk will make massive changes, and then offer an IPO to Tesla shareholders. (Funding of his purchase is partly underwritten by his ownership of Tesla shares.) The value of Twitter will increase, and Tesla shareholders will benefit. Musk is not a business dummy.
