Actually, it's only a partial "well duh" . The surgical masks that they force on everyone are so poor at keeping people safe that many have a disclaimer directly on the box that says they won't protect you from a virus. Even these mask makers who want to sell masks by the boat load know their masks don't work like the narrative says they do, so they put the disclaimer right there for everyone to ignore.
It’s only freedom of speech to the point where people can express their different views without threats and abuse. There’s a reason that most of the people that saw the threat of covid don’t post about it any more, and it isn’t because anybody changed their minds.
I have, for example, pointed out that before there even were any vaccines we were seeing the same effects the anti-vax crowd tries to blame solely on the vaccine. I even provided a rational explanation based on, you know, that thing... science. But the anti-vaxxers treat dissent exactly the way the climate alarmists do. The anti-maskers are no better. Same crowd, I believe. They will go after you until you stop posting - until you are cancelled.
So much for rational discussions on a free speech friendly platform.

As a anti vaxxers I could care less what stupid opinion you hold.

P.S. The "6-foot Social Distancing" measurement ... a total fabrication. There is NO science proving/disproving this tactic will stop the "spread" of COVID-19 virus.

Wearing a good sealed properly installed and fitted 3m 6000 with a p95 filter will probably protect the wearer. My draeger p99 will as well. But these are all outlawed. becuase they have exit holes allowing the person to actually breathe. Cna’w wear them in a doctors office around here.

I came down with Covid twice, wearing N-95 masks both times. I cannot take the vaccine bc of anaphylaxis concerns, but the use of the best masks used by nursing/medical personnel didn’t prevent the virus from infecting me. Those blue masks given out are NOT N-95, but only face shields from someone’s saliva (from coughing or sneezing) getting directly on your skin, but doesn’t prevent viruses from flowing through. PERIOD!

That is actually untrue. There were plenty of anti-mask brown shirts threatening and abusing people. “Ima go rip those face-diapers off of those pussies!” “If some guy comes into my store in a mask I’ll shoot them - they might be intending to rob me!” blah blah.
A lot of people quit posting because of the abuse by anti-mask, anti-vax people that couldn’t defend their positions and so resorted to threats and ad hominems. People can get that on fb and twitter, if they want it.

Covid-19 does not fly around on its own, it needs to be carried by a particle, the minimum size of which has been calculated to be 9.6 μm.
N95 masks stop 95% of particles that are 0.3 μm or larger. That’s the definition of N95. They will stop even higher percentages of larger particles. As I mentioned earlier, the quality of the mask matters, but even a cloth mask stops some of the particles, and something is better than nothing, since your likelihood of contracting *any* disease depends largely on the level of exposure and the load you’re carrying.
P100 masks carry a virus rating backed by independent testing. These are the same grade filters our military uses for its biological.warfare masks. Are you.going to say with a straight face that the military.doesn’t know how to.protect our.troops from bioagents. A true P100 mask has a silicon seal and is air.tight around the nose and mouth I own five.different versions ranging from full NBC qualified 40mms NATO threaded gas masks to half masks with replaceable P100 to single use P100 with silicon edge seals that you heat up and mold to your face. At least know what you are talking about. There are masks and more importantly respirators that can and do filters down to 0.01 micron they will.stop any airborne respiratory virus, Ebola or H5N1 or Hanta Virus. They are not cheap good ones are $500 or more each custom.fitted general grade are $80 with $30 filter pairs all will make someone a walking immune in any bioagent live environment. For really nasty bugs like Ebola you.need skin protection as well as in full body suits they are available for $3000 from any reputable prepper shop. Cloth masks are worthless , but virus rated respirators are the real.deal.

In a cost/benefit analysis, is the cost and discipline necessary to wear such a mask (Retired Military) valid for a virus with a 99.9% survival rate?
The virus is 1/4 the size if a smoke particle. You can smell smoke through almost any mask. Hoping to use a mask to stop something that small is analogous to putting up a chain-link fence to keep mosquitoes out of your yard, when you understand the relative sizes. Therefore, People who “believe” a mask stops a virus is a person with a very low IQ and should be listened to accordingly.

Is it? How many viral particles need to get thru? If you reduce them by 50%, does that do ANYTHING to prevent you from catching it? Or will the virus reproducing for another hour overwhelm that?
