Disney will fight this tooth & nail, hammer & claw, all the way to the Florida Supreme Court and perhaps even to the SCOTUS.

DeSantis & Co. need to push back, saying that “it’s for the children”...

It’s about “equity”! :)

It’s going to be hard to argue: “It’s unconstitutional to deny us special treatment!”

They can fight, but they can’t win....

They let a small vocal set of idiots in their company dictate their actions... and now, they get to pay the price, literally for their stupidity.

They can hire all the lawyers they want, but I don’t think the courts are going to care about the legislature revoking special districts that the legislature created. Disney is going to have to come up with a hell of a convoluted legal argument to make that seem like something that the courts have any jursidiction over.

And Disney will still lose.
What the state government gives, the state government can take away.

I wonder how the public will take to the idea that Disney has been avoiding paying taxes for so long? I wonder how they will take to the idea that Disney is not subject to the same health and safety rules as any other business? I wonder how the public will react to find out that Disney owned all the Florida politicians since the 1960s?

If Disney can find a court to rule that they are entitled to permanent 'above the law' status they will still have the downside of everyone actually knowing that they talk about social responsibility while buying politicians to avoid paying taxes or adhering to local laws.

They can try, but it would be useless. The agreement remains in effect until it expires next June (2023). They just don’t get a renewal now!
