Warner Bros. Discovery is shutting down CNN+, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Given it was Jeff Zucker’s personal pet project, no wonder it shut down quickly. They should have never launched it in the first place.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy...but since Wallace has been in the TV business a long time, I’m guessing he has a competent agent and/or attorney, meaning he has a guaranteed contract. So, he will sit at his waterfront home in Maryland and collect millions for the next few years.
When Megan Kelly got dumped by NBC—less than two years into her mega-bucks contract—the network was on the hook for the full amount: $69 million. Entertainment, sports and news are among the few places you can fail spectacularly, but wind up set for life financially....

It is said that before you even start a new business, you need to expect it to not be profitable for at least a year. When a business closes down as soon as CNN+ is, it doesn’t mean it was a failure.
It means it was a catastrophic failure on multiple levels. They believed their own BS, for starters.
Streaming services are becoming highly competitive. Warner should probably have realized from CNN’s poor ratings that not enough people would be interested to make it worthwhile. Leftist tripe is being funded by those who are subscribing to cable, satellite, and yes streaming services which still force consumers to pay for crap that they never watch.
The Discovery team is very focused on the bottom line, as is their largest shareholder, John Malone. He has let it be known that changes must be made at CNN, and you’re starting to see them. If I were Brian Stelter, I’d be polishing my audition tape—and fast. Malone has described Stelter as a “cancer” at the network. That doesn’t sound very promising, in terms of long-term employment prospects.
Bottom line, BS walks.

nonetheless, i sure hope they keep the CNN- service ... which is the pay service that guarantees you won’t see CNN or anything related to it, no matter where you might be ...
