Precisely.
One has absolutely no chance at sustaining peace of mind owning them either, given the distinct possibility the thing might randomly explode or otherwise burst into flames:
Talk about a fool’s errand:

To make matters worse, your average firefighter crew cannot properly extinguish the things because the battery casings insulate the fires from foam and water as applied by the firefighters:

Personally, I never park near them since I don’t want any fire damage coming my way as the result of their random explosions.
You can only hope that thing doesn’t randomly burst into flames.
Glad I will never have that problem.
I wonder what percentage of the increase is in the luxury market, and how much is fleet sales...
Increases in both of those aren’t what I’d call a bellwether.
Propaganda.
Which country do you think builds and sells the most cars?
ICE cars can suddenly burst into flames as well. I don’t lose sleep over the risk of either.
yea, I know it ain’t happening!
An EV isn't for everyone. But if we're talking about only twice per year that you have to get a charge stop every 230-250 miles and they take 20-45 minutes instead of 5-10 minutes every 300-400 miles, then that to me sounds like a small time cost to pay to keep from having to spend 5-10 minutes per week filling up a gas tank for normal commutes. (Say you spend 5 minutes per gas fill-up once per week for normal commutes that's 260 minutes per year.) This is opposed to charging an EV for daily use in practically no personal time if you charge it at home -- just plug it in and while it charges you go eat dinner and make love to the wife and sleep.
But that's if you make long trips only a couple of times per year. If you make a lot more trips and have no or short daily commutes, then IMHO a gas car is best.
If we get an EV we'll keep a gas car (my wife and I need two cars together anyway, might as well have one each to have the best of both worlds).
“Insane acceleration is not a benefit taking into the fact most of these ev owners are horrible drivers and need licenses revoked.”
Source?
Inflation is around 10%, and people just have 80K disposable right now?
Nothing made by Chinks is of any quality.
$10/gallon of gas would cost me about $300 to fill up.
Still cheaper than buying an EV.
Not buying.
If that false sense of optimism helps you sleep at night, then I’m glad to not be nearby.
Like I said, all you have is hope.
…..And I’m smart enough to never potentially endanger my life, home, or other people’s lives and property on something so volatile as an EV.
And, dont park near flammables.
In an ideal world we would have much less expensive and longer lasting batteries which could be made using inexpensive and environmentally friendly materials.
Electricity could come from fusion reactors.
The electrical grid would be upgraded so every home would have a charging station and could charge in about 10 minutes.
Electric motors are more reliable than the internal combustion engine.
Bad part is none of these things currently exist except the electric motor.
You are really grasping at straws. What happened to letting people get what they want? You don’t want an EV, I get it. That’s fine with me. I like mine, I like my other two ICE cars as well.
It doesn’t have to be an either or choice. I usually sense jealousy over my car, when people talk about statistically irrelevant risks like you do.
That’s not a bug, that’s a feature!
Get ready for those rolling blackouts when everyone charges at the same time.
Does anyone here know if there are any published study results on how much electricity would be required for transportation, heating etc. And how much power to sustain the required usage for the US to maintain the current level of operations and where that power would come from? (Sorry for the run on sentence)
Except it makes about 80% of all consumer goods in North America.
