Gas prices reached record highs in March, which led to a surge in demand for fuel-efficient vehicles. The average used hybrid vehicle increased in price by 40.5 percent, while the average used electric vehicle rose by 35.1 percent when compared to the same time period in March 2021.
For consumers interested in a used hybrid or electric vehicle amid high gas prices, some alternative-fuel vehicles have risen in price more than others. Here are the average used car prices and annual price increases for the hybrid and electric vehicles on the market today:
Average Price Increases for Hybrid Cars
When looking at the prices for used hybrid vehicles, five vehicles have price increases above the hybrid vehicle average of 40.5 percent. Nine vehicles have price increases less than average.
Hook Line and Sinker. The sheep are taking the bait.
Penny wise,!pound foolish…
A combination of ignorance on the part of consumers and outright falsehoods from the media regarding how “energy efficient” these vehicles are.
All by design
It seems tempting, but I don’t feel like taking out a mortgage just to fund battery replacements every 5 years.
Suckers.
Anyone who wants to drop $100K on a Tesla, or a electric Hummer, or a F150 Lightning doesn't have to worry about the cost vs gas.
Electric vehicles have advantages and disadvantages when compared to an ICE vehicle.
Performance and insane acceleration are electric vehicle advantages over almost any ICE vehicle.
Range and road trips are disadvantages over ICE vehicles.
I think that electric vehicles have reached the "knee point" in the curve where they are practical enough for widespread adoption, and the market agrees with me.
I however, won't own one until I'm forced to. But I do understand anyone who does own one.
Makes about as much sense as: soaring hamburger prices create high demand for fillet mignon.
Oh, okay then. I mean you just plug them into any 110/120 volt wall outlet service right? Just like a plug in skill or something.😕🙌
The Left plans to have everyone in an EV by their Magic Rainbow date of 2030
There are Chinese models closely matching Tesla S in performance but priced at around $30k. They are perfectly worth it unless you drive long distances.
Yeah, I agree. I really wouldn't mind owning one, I live in a city, and it would work out well for 99% of our use. But I still like having a gas engine vehicle for the occasional long trip.
That’s because they have no critical thinking skills. The first time they are stranded on an unfamiliar highway because of an electricity blackout or a storm that leaves now power, maybe just maybe they’ll start to get it. But I doubt it…
They don’t even know where electricity comes from in the first place, so
Insane acceleration is not a benefit taking into the fact most of these ev owners are horrible drivers and need licenses revoked.
The Chinese will not by Chinese cars ,LOL
“Electric cars make NO sense at this stage of development.”
A huge number of Americans operate on feelings, not reason. To them, they are “saving money” while “saving the planet”.
In reality they are doing neither, but you can’t convince them, the media is far too strong.
Do they ask where electricity comes from? : Power plants
Do they do the simple math to see what it costs vs a gas powered car? : Depends on the car. Some like the ease of filling up cheaply at home.
Do they care about the required maintenance? : What maintenance? EV’s are practically maintenance free.
I just don’t get it. Electric cars make NO sense at this stage of development. : Why not?
There are many scenarios I can think of that make owning an EV exclusively impractical......most of them emergency related.
Not to mention environmental concerns ironically
