I find this no surprise. My years with Chicanos in Southern Arizona, many of whom had family here since territorial days, convinced me that we had more in common than between us. As a group they were the hardest working, most culturally conservative, most motivated to assimilate of any national/ethnic group I can identify. The Trump-inspired abandonment of the marxist left could be seen coming a mile away, just a matter of time. All that had been lacking was a patriotic leader worthy of being followed.

Of course there is always room for growth but if we have any sense we will appreciate and reinforce the degree of change already occurring. The stupidest thing we can do is not to appreciate that change takes time, and not welcome these patriots of proud Hispanic and American heritage.
