Easily the worst amendment by far.

What it did was to give everything you earn to the politicians and bureaucrats and then they decide how much of it to give to you.

Additionally it gave the same people the power to invade every crevice of your private life.

I didn’t just come in on a load of Zucchini but I can find on the internet which states voted to ratify the 16th Amendment, 36 cinched it and I believe 42 ratified but who were they?

“Since when was the 4th Amendment abolished and the citizenry required to report their earnings to the All Powerful, All Knowing State?”

It is ancient history but the answer is ... the 16th amendment.

To those that say the feds don’t have the legal power to require you to report and tax your income I say ... good luck with that!

Withholding should be illegal, and election day the first Tuesday after April 15th.

We, as in ‘We the People’, entrusted the federals to do 19 things in 1787. And, NO more. Today they do 6000+, at least 5980 more than they should. That cost LOTS of currency (note, not money!)

There is a legal and a lawful path (note: dual paths) to not pay the IRS. BOTH are required.

For the legal path, the IRS even provides a form for folks that are currently paying 1040 taxes, to stop doing so. It is Form 56. However, it’s not like you fill in that form, and voila, you can stop paying. You have to have the right prerequisites and fill in the form correctly, and understand what you’re doing. Some, over the years, perhaps you know or heard of someone, have tried but gotten into ‘hot water’ because they didn’t do it properly. I’m of the view that 55,000+ People today, many prior 1040 taxpayers, have successfully ‘opted out’.

There is also the Lawful path, which is not form driven, but process driven. There is rationale for BOTH paths, legal and lawful, to both be followed pretty closely.

I don’t want to go deep here about this, this is not the place. Only mean it as a teaser, in a sense. Here there could be 1000 people reading this, and maybe one or two may take this to heart, that have not already heard about it, and do it.

Hint: Following this path should NOT be to get out of paying IRS taxes, but to reclaim your liberty that has been stolen from you without most even knowing about it.

I just ran the numbers, and because of withholding, the government would owe me $26,753 using the 1913 numbers. That is without taking hardly anything but the standard deduction and mortgage interest.

You’re right. Thanks! It is correct in the linked page. I have no ads, trackers or other bullcrap on my page, as my website exists purely for my own enjoyment.

Absolutely on both points. We can thank Nixon for witholding.

"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census of enumeration."

Notice that the 16th Amendment does NOT include the wording, "and without regard for Congress's limited power to appropriate taxes." This absence of such wording is significant with respect to the Supreme Court's clarification of Congress's limited power to appropriate taxes.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

The problem is, as a consequence of inexcusably widespread ignorance of Congress's limited power to approprate taxes and the ill-conceived 17th Amendment (17A), we're in the following unhappy situation.

Crook career senators long ago learned that they could get themselves elected and reelected on promises of unconstitutional federal spending programs, programs that Congress cannot reasonably justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

In other words, ordinary, low-information patriot voters have unthinkingly abused their 17A voting power by electing crook politicians to the Senate to the extent that ordinary voters are as much Democratic assistants where supporting unconstitutional desparate Democratic federal taxing and spending is concerned as the Democratic assistants that patrots accuse RINOs of being are imo.

Insights welcome.

Next, patriots are reminded that they must vote twice this election year. Your first vote is to primary career RINO incumbents. Your second vote is to replace outgoing Democrats and RINOs with Trump-endorsed patriot candidates.

Again, insights welcome.

“Those making under $20,000 per year paid no tax.”
Based on inflation tables, that’s equivalent to almost $600,000 per year in 2022 dollars.

This, of course, is how the income tax was sold to the people. Only the rich had to pay it! I think it pretty much stayed that way until the New Deal/WWII when finally the average guy’s salary was subject to the tax.

I think they’re trying the same thing again with the ‘wealth tax’. Only the very rich will be subject to it. For now.

“Your link goes to the 2014 form?”

“January 5, 1914, the treasury department unveiled the four page form (including instructions) for the new income tax. The form was numbered 1040 in the ordinary stream of numbering forms in sequential order. In the first year, no money was to be returned with the forms….”

https://www.irs.gov/irs-history-timeline#:~:text=On%20January%205%2C%201914%2C%20the,be%20returned%20with%20the%20forms.

I think what they are saying is that the 1913 taxes were paid with the form that wasn’t made public until 1914. And the money was collected by field agents.

...universal - no exemptions, exclusions, deductions or credits; just a simple straight flat tax everyone pays.

But without those carrots and sticks, how is the government supposed to manipulate us into making the "correct" decisions? And after they go through all that hard work to figure out what's best for us?

“A heavy progressive or graduated income tax”

I explained it to my son thusly...

When you go to buy a vehicle, do they give you a price sheet that’s graduated by income?

Does the tree trimmer get to buy a MB 500 SEL for a few hundred bucks, while the thoracic surgeon pays $105K?

We’re paying for a service. The Communists think it’s a gang fee, a vig paid on a percentage.

Like Biden.
