(Reuters) - The most important ship in Russia's Black Sea fleet, the Moskva missile cruiser, was badly damaged after ammunition on board blew up, Interfax news agency quoted the Russian defence ministry as saying on Thursday.

I’d imagine there is if they are being forthright about there
being a real problem.
Putting all those giant missiles on deck is asking for trouble. It’s the same with the Russian auto loader tanks, too. Works great killing civilians but they can go boom when fighting a real army. The Russian military is built to fight civilians and its showing now. So sad.
If it’s Russia making this announcement, it will be interesting
to see the positive spin.

operational.”

When Ukraine designed the Neptune, they knew a battery too close to the coast wouldn't survive long. They designed the system to be based up to 15 miles inland, making it much harder to find.

Either way, if the magazines blew, she’s gone. That won’t be a seriously damaged and burnt ship that can be repaired with a year in dry dock. If her magazines blew, then she went to Davy Jones’s locker.

Don’t know why, but this puts me in mind of the Norwegian movie ‘The King’s Choice’ (Kongens Nei) where the Norwegians took out the German battlecruiser Blucher on the first day of the German invasion. The Germans were really pissed at them for this.
Shame the main Russian air defense platform for the whole area exploded like that, very coincidental.

A Russian source is saying the Moskva has sunk and that the explosion was from a Ukrainian Neptun missile strike. Apparently, Ukraine flew a TB2 UCAV to distract the ship while it was targeted by the Neptun. The ship rolled onto its side after the strike.
