Zelenskyy warns of war in Donbas like 'the world has not seen in hundreds of years' as Russia masses troops for a new offensive on the eastern front

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday warned of fighting in Donbas that could result in the biggest war in centuries.

Speaking to the German newspaper BILD, owned by Axel Springer, Insider's parent company, Zelenskyy predicted intense fighting in the coming days.

"It could be a big war in Donbas — like the world has not seen in hundreds of years," he told BILD reporter Paul Ronzheimer.

"We will go on defending our country until the end," the Ukrainian president continued.

This chilling forecast echoes what Ukraine's foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba told NATO members on Thursday.

"The battle for Donbas will remind you of the Second World War," Kuleba said.

He used this warning to immediately call on Western allies to provide more heavy weaponry, including air defense systems, artillery, armored vehicles, and jets.

BTW, when the Brits came back for seconds in 1812, we had been a country for less time. Guess you’d have rooted for King George then.

Not quite the same zeal, because I don’t have family there. But I certainly don’t cheer for the aggressors using loony-bin conspiracy theories to justify murder and rape of civilians, unlike some of the moral defectives on this website.

” Guess you’d have rooted for King George then.”

Read post #32 where I address your silliness.

“Not quite the same zeal, because I don’t have family there.”

Do you have family in Ukraine?

If not, why the special advocacy for them?

You would have advised Madison to surrender and hand the nation back to the British?

We would have gotten the Louisiana Purchase without paying for it after 1814.

Probably no war with Mexico.

And it would have saved us the Civil War 50 years later.

I do. Currently they’re in Donetsk under assault by the Russian orcs. The callous disregard for war atrocities and outright support for putin on this site makes me sick. People who would have cheered for Chamberlain and Hitler in 1938.

If it was your house that was invaded, would you fight? Oh, never mind.

If you don't surrender, everything that befalls you is your own fault.

And america had no allies and took no help from outside during its wars for independence...

If your going to cite history, put it all in context. Don’t make inaccurate analogies or shape it to you narrative.

The bulk of Ukraine’s best most professional forces are trapped in the Donbas where they had been massing for an attack prior to the Russian invasion. If the war does not come to a fairly quick negotiated settlement, they will be destroyed. Then Putin will impose harsher terms.

“The callous disregard for war atrocities and outright support for putin on this site makes me sick.”

Maybe you should try a different site?

“If your going to cite history, put it all in context. Don’t make inaccurate analogies or shape it to you narrative.”

The only analogy I posted was “it’s like the US and Canada frighting an existential war”.

Others posited the analogies about the Revolutionary War.

Russia excels at murdering unarmed women and children. It’s their trademark.

On the "Latest Articles" list, this story about Zelenskyy's 'Mother Of All Battles' landed right between a 'Jussie Smollett claims innocence' article, and a 'three years to climate disaster' article - kind of funny, like a triple-layer baloney sandwich, without the bread...

Do you think they killed more than the US did in Iraq?

You asked me to see your post 32. I did and commented. It was your analogy, comparing what Ukraine can do vs the American revolution.
