Former president Donald Trump’s Truth Social app is seeing a 93% drop in signups and similarly steep decline in traffic after a rocky rollout last month fraught with technical issues and an extensive waiting list for new signups to actually use the service.

After going live on President’s Day, the Twitter-lookalike app saw installs decline by more than 800,000 since its launch week, according to Sensor Tower. Installs on the Apple app store this month have fallen to about 60,000 per week, based on early estimates.

It is tricky engineering to make a platform scale, user count can take something that looked great and turn it into pure cancer.

If it is failing, it is an indicator that it will need a rewrite and relaunch....they are going to have to stop the sign-ups.

I say PDJT ought to maximize Gab, which apparently preserved his twitter account and posts virtually all of his comments.

I finally got on. Limited roll-out that will improve shortly, and only running on apple phones.

My number increased three times, but I got in, and capacity will ramp up shortly they've stated.

I love it. Seeing things that would be banned on many platforms due to “marxist style censorship”.

Building the infrastructure that cannot simply be “cut off” by some provider or another in the current political climate is no simple or quick process. Slap something together quickly and without careful choices of most aspects involved with launching your product will guarantee a short lifespan.

I think it has a great chance to succeed.

Blaming the lack of Android app or browser app misses the point that they haven't been able to handle Apple app users. Imagine if they had rolled out the Android app back in February (with the same likely results)?

Hopefully they'll straighten things out, learn from mistakes, get their Apple app users live and then successfully roll out Android app and browser. Not holding my breath.

Maybe Elon Musk will do better if he decides to enter the social media marketplace.
