Ukraine-Russia war: Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said there was "nothing left" of the strategic post city of Mariupol amid Kyiv’s appeal to Moscow to allow the evacuation of at least 1,00,000 people who want to leave.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said there was "nothing left" of the strategic city amid Kyiv’s appeal to Moscow to allow the evacuation of at least 1,00,000 people who want to leave.
"There is nothing left there. Only ruins," Zelenskyy said of Mariupol, which has a peacetime population of 4,00,000, in a video address to the Italian parliament.
As he was speaking, the city council said Russian forces had dropped two large bombs on Mariupol but gave no details of casualties or damage.
In a video address, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said, "We know that there will not be enough space for everyone, but we will try to carry out the evacuation until we have gotten all the inhabitants of Mariupol out."
Earlier, Zelenskyy said all issues would be on the table if Russia's Vladimir Putin agreed to direct talks to end the war, including the contested eastern regions Donbas and the annexed Crimea peninsula. But he warned his country would be "destroyed" before it surrenders.

What was he when he turned off the water and electricity to Crimea?
Truth hurts.
No, you are avoiding.
When you brought up Russia invading, wrong as their invasion is, you then have to castigate the U.S. invading Iraq and bombihg Libya as the UN didn’t approve those either, hypocrite. And YOU brought up the UN.
So don’t go that route.
Got it?
Good.
Dismissed. Talk later some time.
Again, dismissed, as you clearly are an evasive, hypocritical warmonger as people here at FR can now see.
“you then have to castigate the U.S. invading Iraq and bombihg Libya as the UN didn’t approve those either,”
Actually I did, loudly and repeatedly both before they happened and after.
“Dismissed”
Bite me, Dingleberry.

EU/NATO...the West was the winner.
And their institutions prosecuted the Serbian for war crimes.
Because people in their homes are human Shields. They should leave their homes for the Russians to destroy.
Russians belong in Russia. Russian soldiers outside of Russia need killing.
As far as I’m concerned both sides should be investigated for war crimes and if both sides committed them both sides should be charged and tried.
Too bad no one here seems interested in that.

Then explain the Mai Lai prosecution.
Thanks in advance.

Well, in Texas those would be “hey-no-kiddin’ powerful” bombs.
But, but, come on man... Russia is losing this war... The flappy lipped bimbos and boobs tell me so every night...
Ukraine can win... Russia’s army is incompetent, and a paper tiger...
Fools, no wonder people believe a flagrantly stolen election was legitimate...
Russia can at ANY TIME turn every city in Ukraine to nothing but rubble, and they don’t need to go nuclear to do it.
Ukraine can resist, they can make Russia pay a high price, and they can even engage in asymmetrical actions long after the last of the major battles are over, but alone.... they cannot win.
But I thought and heard that Russia invaded Ukraine, caused untold billions in property losses and thousands upon thousands of civilian (not military) deaths in the best Hitleresque Blitzkrieg style that would make the half-mustachioed dead dictator smile.
So, it seems the fake reasoning of "I thought they were going to hit me so I hit them back first" defense reasoning has proven out to be nothing but an old nazi style land grab for what will probably turn out to be a highway built over the corpse of a once large city and the bones of its civilian inhabitants.
Marvelous .... /lots of sarc
“Then explain the Mai Lai prosecution.”
Oddly, the west thinks there is a moral dimension to war.
Nobody else in the world agrees with that point of view.
So yes, the west and only the west will prosecute their own for “war crimes”...killing outside the rules the west believes are important.
Yep! Probably falls somewhere between "Would ya look at that?!" bombs, and "Where's my Bible!" bombs...
;>)
[Like Churchill stormed Normandy on D-Day?]
“In true characteristic style, Churchill wanted to go in with the main invasion force of Normandy on 6 June 1944. It was only King George VI that was able to convince him otherwise by saying that if Churchill was going, then he (the King) was going as well. Churchill, after much debate, eventually conceded that this was neither practical nor sensible.”

Lots of little Russkie kids are getting killed there too.
And that makes my heart sing.
Oddly, the west thinks there is a moral dimension to war.”
There is. We settled that hash at Nuremberg.
“Nobody else in the world agrees with that point of view.”
That doesn’t make them right.
“So yes, the west and only the west will prosecute their own for “war crimes”.
That’s because our belief system is morally and ethically superior. It’s a big part of how we became the most powerful nation on the face of the Earth.
Unless of course you happen to believe that the Chinese or the islamists have a morally superior belief system.
Is that what you believe?

The wprld will be a safer place when the Azov brigade has been eliminated.
Ain't that the truth! Someone posted one here, that used the words "dead" & "death" FOUR TIMES in the same headline.
Makes you wonder if being a 'fake newser' kills brain cells, or if displaying mind-numbing stupidity (the way mating birds display colorful feathers ;>) actually generates clicks...
“Is that what you believe?”
What I believe is that in 100% of all cases in human existence, the victor and the hegemon makes the rules and establishes the morality of the society.
That hegemon has shifted through the centuries, from Persia, Macedonia, Athens, Rome...the Holy Roman Empire and beyond.
