Did you know that on Sam Cooke’s version of Bring it on Home, Lou Rawls was the backup singer. There’s another of the best ever.

I’m partial to the Animals because I came of age in the middle 60s and Eric Burdon was the guy who got me listening to black blues singers from the 30s through the 60s. Eric Clapton and John Mayall had some part in it as well.

Lately I’ve been listening to The Carter Family and Flatt and Scruggs. Maybelle Carter and Earl Scruggs were pioneers with the guitar and banjo.

Thanks, I did not know that. I love that kind of trivia.

Similarly, I started listening to black blues when I learned The Rolling Stones were named after a Howlin Wolf song. I had to know more.

As to British Blues, I got into: John Mayall, Long John Baldry, which led to Rod Stewart’s Small Faces, Jeff Beck, Spencer Davis and then Blind Faith
