Yeah the pundits failed to check on the huge changes in the RA since the fall of the USSR. Even now there are various sources, commentators, and posters believing and assuming the RA has near or more than a million troops in the Army. The entire active Russian Ground Force is only 280,000 troops - Soviet Armies consisted of 100,000 troops each. Four of those Armies were on the East German border long ago.
