Can Brian Kemp Make it to his Stacey Abrams Rematch?
thedispatch.com ^ | 3/21/22 | Andrew Egger

But before he can square off against Abrams, Kemp has to overcome another obstacle: David Perdue, one of the Republican senators unseated by those runoffs, who has launched a Trump-fueled primary bid against the governor.

In ordinary times, Kemp would be a head-scratching target for a Republican primary insurgency. His first term has been defined by the sort of controversy-sparking fights that conservatives rally around: In 2019, Kemp backed and signed a heartbeat bill (later overturned in court) banning most abortions beyond six weeks, sticking to his guns despite widespread threats by actors and directors to boycott the state, a serious threat to Atlanta’s blockbuster entertainment industry. In April 2020, barely a month into the COVID-19 pandemic, he permitted nonessential businesses to reopen if they followed certain public health guidelines, a decision that brought a storm of criticism not only from Democrats but even from President Donald Trump, who suggested it was premature. And, last year, Kemp championed the passage of an election security bill, SB 202, that was pilloried even more savagely in the press, causing Major League Baseball to pull its annual All-Star Game out of the state.

I am asking people to refrain from personal insults

That doesn't apply to Abrams. She is fair game.

Abrams was defeated narrowly by Kemp

Abrams was beaten soundly by Kemp, but then massive cheating by Abrams made it appear like it was a narrow defeat.

Sadly, it seems that most Georgian’s don’t care... Either that or Purdue has alienated the electorate, so that even if they aren’t happy with Kemp aren’t going to change course if it means voting for Purdue.

Polling isn’t perfect, but Purdue has been down double digits the entire race, and so far as I can tell hasn’t been able to really get traction.

However, the one thing about this polling so far, from what I can see, appears to support the latter hypothesis, that Purdue just isn’t a good candidate, and not connecting with voters. Kemp’s support is pretty crappy at low 40s, which should be a good sign for a challenger... sadly though, this challenger, hasn’t gotten anything about low 30s...

The other thing to keep in mind is that Georgia is an OPEN PRIMARY state, which is a ludicrous concept on its face, but like it or not it is. Any meaningful poll will have to find likely voters and then ask them which party they plan to vote for in the primary... not simply “registered republican” etc.

I believe GA’s primary is late May.. So, Purdue is now down to 2 months to find some message that resonates and hammers it home.... and I know polling isn’t perfect, or even always honest, but it sure doesn’t seem, or feel like, Purdue has been able to do this yet. He may just be too damaged a candidate, even though Kemp is vulnerable, Purdue just may be too damaged to be the one to take him out.

Guess we will see in a few months.. but I know if I were Purdue, I’d be looking to find SOMETHING, ANYTHING, that really resonates, and work it hard until election day... It just doesn’t seem at this point, he’s got something... and the clock is rapidly running out.

There is material for several excellent campaign commercials in what you have written.

God, I hope not. If I were a Georgia resident and it were Kemp vs Adams, I’d have to leave that race blank.

Will Biden’s New American reality change their minds?

But I don’t think I saw one Perdue sign.

I was in Pennsylvania in October 2020 visiting family scattered all over the state. I saw nothing but support for Trump - signs posted everywhere - we had to wait for a parade of Trump supporters to go by. Support for him seemed to be everywhere and overwhelming.

Yet he lost the state to Biden.

You will never convince me Biden was elected fairly in Pennsylvania.

I see same happening in Georgia that happened in the 2020 senate races unless election laws are tightened up.

Georgia is a cesspool of crime and treason. And the R’s in the state legislature should all be investigated for accepting payoffs and bribes.

Trump should never had said Abrams would be better than Kemp. He should check this vindictive streak.

Maybe Kemp should have done his job and FOUGHT against the steal rather than AIDED the steal.

As it is, he is a Traitor as another poster has already posted to you, and as such, cannot be trusted, and, since he gave aid and comfort to the enemy, needs to be removed from office.

I do not think Abrams is unopposed in the primaries so Democrats are safe to vote in the Republican primary. Abrams may have enough muscle to decide the Republican candidate by cross over voting. If there is a largeRepublican over voteAbrams may be able to swing the Republican primary her way.

How to cheat better than the Democrats. Seriously, we need to be stuffing ballots until order is restored. I’d like to see the 2024 election Trump 25 billion votes to Biden’s 300 million.

Kemp sold a senate seat to Kelly Loefler, took $100,000 bribe from the Chinese to put Dominion machines in Georgia. Has conspired with David Ralston Speaker of GA House to keep Constitutional Carry sidelined for his whole term, conspired with Raffensperger to cover up the 2020 election fraud and God knows what else. He is a treasonous criminal who belongs in prison not the governor’s mansion. I wouldn’t vote for him for any reason. Or David Perdue who was a terrible senator. I’m voting for Kandiss Taylor. If Stacy Abrams wins so be it.

Same deal applies to the senate race here. Herschel Walker has been diagnosed with multiple personality disorder. He has threatened at least three people with b!owing their heads off and stalked and terrorized his ex wife. A person with an unstable character has no business being a US senator. We have enough of them now.

I was in Signal Mountain Tennessee prior to the election. I was bragging to a friend aboutTrump rallies.. He told me to look around. Pro Biden signs were about 11/2 to 1 Trump signs. Signal mountain is hardly Democratic territory. 4 years f Trump Russia collusion, two impeachments, etc soured a lot of Americans on Trump. Biden was supposed to be the steady hand on the wheel. Trump got credit for nothing. Even the stupid unions backed Biden even though it meant their workers losing jobs. Well here we are.

President Trump will never get a fair election. The Republicans in Office hate him more than the Democrats and media combined do. The Republicans want to see the United States destroyed and turned into another Africa more than the Democrats do. Why do they? You will have to ask them. I was happy under President Trump. But evidently the rest of the People were not. They wanted Lying Joe Biden, Thief Extraordinaire. After he and his goons get through with America, there will not be a hell of a lot left to destroy./p>

According to balletopia, she is the ONLY candidate on the democratic ticket for the Democratic Primary for governor.

And even if others are officially on the ballot, they offer no reasonable impact to prevent her from the nomination... so yes, cross over is almost certainly going to happen in the GOP PRIMARY.

If Perdue wins say hi to Stacy Abrams our next Governor.

If that is the only way to get rid of a backstabber, I will welcome her winning the governor's race.

I have a scorched earth belief system against backstabbers. I would rather an enemy take over their position than allow them to continue without punishment.

You guys crack me up. How many 2020 elections were overturned due to fraud?

What does that have to do with doing the moral and proper thing? Oppressed people are long suffering injustices until their oppressors are overcome.

The fraud is very provable, and the fact that people like Kemp are chickensh*ts who are terrified of fighting back against the corruption does in no way mean we should allow it to continue.

The courts are corrupt, and our leadership are often cowards or worse, working to the benefit of the other side.

That no cases has made it through the corrupt court system does not mean those cases had no merit. It means that our system of justice is garbage and our leadership are cowards, or worse.

You seem to think Kemp could ride in with guns blazing etc. and over turn the election.

Were I governor, I would have ordered law enforcement to investigate illegal activities in the election. I would have ordered an audit.

Kemp did nothing useful, and fought back any effort to call for accountability. He didn't need to "ride in with guns blazing", all he needed to do was to not be a coward.

I get tired f this “ I‘ll sit out the election threat”. It is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

We have Joe Bitchden as "President" largely thanks to cowards/accomplices like Kemp.

The devastation this has caused and will further cause to the nation is far worse than "cutting off your nose to spite your face."

The point in history where Kemp would have mattered is past, and in comparison to the Bitchden "presidency" getting rid of Kemp will be a scratch on the nose.

His useful value is already thrown away by his helping the election steal.

And now we need to send a message that backstabbing won't be tolerated.

Destroying backstabbers is how the Democrats have always maintained a loyal united front against Republicans.

We should borrow this page from their book.

BS! I’m a “livid Trump voter” in Georgia and I’m sure hell going to be voting for whoever is running against Abrams. I couldn’t imagine what GA what have looked liked during Covid with Abrams as governor.

If Trump voters think punishing Kemp is worth having Abrams as our governor, they are truly stupid.
