I live on the Alabama side of the river across from Columbus, Georgia and Fort Benning. There were hilltop forts with cannon’s defending the manufacturing town of Columbus from Yankee raiders. I live close to Confederate Fort #5. It is a nice view from up there. The historic marker for the site is off the main road and up on a little clearing where practically no one can see it. The local pols are so ashamed of the word, “Confederate” they make young snowflakes seem robust in comparison.
