It was weird. No advertising in it. Just glowing articles on everything Soviet. Serious scientists designing the next what ever space project , happy kids, Young Pioneers stuff and of course the obligatory "Great Patriotic War'' story with the obligatory picture of some Red Army hero captured in the moment of battle and ''who was this hero''? And as the caption would read the hero was found to be such and such and he either lived to defeat the "Hitlerites'' or he /she died in battle. It was weird.
My favorite SOVIET LIFE cover story from circa 1978, “LEONARD BREZHNEV WINS THE LENIN PEACE PRIZE”. Who would imagine that he could “win”?
