Does consumption ever go down when the price goes up? I have noticed before that when gas hit $4/gal people groused a lot but continued to drive. When it got close to $5/GAL, they did some planning and cut back on driving. Using the trip to accomplish more than one thing, even resorting to carpooling. -Tom

A relative is on a mini vacation at Bodega Bay, and he decided to fill up at the only real gas station there.
Bodega Bay gas: $5.39 for regular and no diesel. Mid grade is 5.50 and hi test $5.60.
Rumors of limiting purchases to 5 gallons.

Just switch over to liters like in the UK.
98% of Americans would be okay with that until they got a bill in American $’s.

“Does consumption ever go down when the price goes up? No elastic.”
Sure it does, it just takes a very high price since demand for the product is inelastic.
The last time we had a big spike oil went to $147, and people drove less and few less and production went up and we had very cheap oil for a while. But we didn’t invest enough in future production so now we are in trouble for some years.

No problem. The working class can afford it, can’t they? If not, thank a Democrat.

Went up 30 cents per gallon here overnight. Was 3.69 yesterday. Today it’s 3.99

I don’t believe it was this high before. My take on it is
mid the mid $4.00 dollar range. Others may have a more clear
memory of it.

It’s gone up 10 to 15 cents since the weekend in Ft Worth. Gas Buddy helps, but even the spread indicated on the app shows the lowest price at $3.39, including a discount.

Some enterprising reporters need to checkout the Biden Crime Family parasites in Delaware.......betcha they got a private pump.
As Americans struggle, betcha the Bidens get all their gas scott free.
