Russia’s chaotic and confusing invasion of Ukraine is baffling military analysts
CNBC ^ | 04-MAR-2022 | Holly Ellyatt

One week into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and military analysts are united on one front, at least: Russia’s invasion has not gone entirely to plan, looking disorganized, uncoordinated and sluggish to observers.

...

“It’s going to be worse than what the Russians had in Afghanistan, that’s what the Ukrainians are going to do,” he added, alluding to the then Soviet Union’s drawn-out, bloody, costly and unpopular invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 that lasted 10 years and led to the loss of around 15,000 Soviet soldiers.

...

Russia has not been able to swiftly achieve its military objectives, he said, because “the Russians are not nearly as well trained as they think they are or as we thought they were, they’re not nearly as well equipped,” he said.

With the resident Putin will eventually win Ukraine.

Hell he’s about to surrender to Iran again and he hasn’t stopped our buying of $70M in oil per DAY from Russia.

You’re probably right. If Putin et. al. made any big mistakes, it was in their assessment of what the Ukrainians would do. They may have expected less resistance, or may (still) be expecting additional pressure and increasing military action against civilian targets to get them to fall in line. It appears that at least for now the opposite is happening. Instead of the needle swinging towards loss of resolve, it is going towards hardening of resolve. You’d think the Russians would know the Ukrainians better, having lived right next door and having had them under their thumb for so long. Maybe that’s the problem, they (the Russians) expected the Ukrainians to fall right back into the old relationship relatively easily. Talk about deluding yourselves....

Hey, we all knew exactly what was going to happen if Trump lost. That's why we rallied by the tens of thousands to make sure he got his second term.

But, we went to a street fight and, following the rules, brought only our fists. The enemy brought guns and knives.

It's impossible to win when the other side cheats. I hope we're able to prevent this from repeating.

Both Afghanistan and the Ukraine are Nations of about 40 million people in a Country of about 600,000 sq Km, who were invaded across their Russian/Soviet border, when a weak Democrat in the White House made it look like a tempting opportunity.

Lol...Europe will fight to the last Ukrainian

That's fine with the Ukrainians who will keep killing Russians. See who breaks first. Russian conscripts who have no idea what they are doing there or really p_ssed off Ukrainians. As for Donbas, its a win for the Russians for now. Lets see how long they keep it.

Afghanistan had a big chunk of pro-Soviet citizens.

The American colonies had a big chunk of loyalists during the Revolutionary War.

It’s not so much the size of the dog in the fight, as the size of the fight in the dog. Russia is engendering deep hatred among many Ukrainians. Russian speakers in the (for now) “recognized Republics” are being unwillingly drafted for combat.

This invasion has also mobilized a new more serious spirit of resistance in Western Europe, and a strong appetite for a sustained proxy war among Eastern Europeans.

It is going to require long term fierce repression to control Ukraine after conquest - and likely continued strong repression and censorship in Russia as well. The Ukraine isn’t the only one being dragged back into the old Soviet Union, Russia is too. That prospect has changed Europe.

“The US official said the pace for sending weapons to Ukraine has picked up dramatically. It used to take weeks or months, it now takes days and hours. The Pentagon is working with stocks that are readily available. Total US assistance since 2014 is now $3 billion. “

“14 countries have now delivered military assistance to Ukraine since the Russian invasion began. ‘Many didn’t have a record of doing this previously,’ the official said.
- Russia has made clear it opposes this assistance, but there’s no evidence it has been able to stop it.”

“The US says the huge Russian convoy north of Kyiv remains stalled. The Ukrainians have carried out attacks on the convoy and blew up a bridge on the road to Kyiv. This has contributed to halting the convoy, along with shortages of food and fuel.”

“ don’t think Ukraine was impressed with Russia’s “shock and awe” military attack.”

The initial Russian air, missile and artillery attack has been described as “Shockingly Awful”. About 7% of shots on target, and a target set about 1/4 the size of the USA going into Iraq (which had better than 80% hitting the target).

“US assesses that Ukraine still has a majority of its air combat power available, U.S. defense official says. So interesting given predictions about Russian air superiority. “

“Russia has now committed 92 percent of its pre-deployed combat power (over 150,000 troops) to its invasion of Ukraine, U.S. defense official says”

“NEW: Russia’s 40-mile long convoy of tanks, artillery and supplies that has stalled miles from Kyiv after Ukrainian strikes, depicted in a 3D rendering.
Pentagon spokes John Kirby told MSNBC today that Ukrainians hit the convoy’s lead vehicles, forcing it to halt.”

It is sad to see the regurgitation of Mockingbird mass media/Deep State liars.

These folks have lied to you about everything for years—and now suddenly you believe everything they say?

Seriously?

War propaganda just takes lying to a new level.

Don’t fall for it.

What do you call 96 dead out of 100? A good start.

“Ukraine’s military: Russia exhausted most of its operational reserve in Ukraine.

Russia has begun transferring troops from its Southern and Eastern Military Districts to replenish its ranks, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

A Ukrainian insurgency will eat up the Russian army for years

Speedy, you ignorant redneck, things are only confusing to the propagandists in our establishment media.

The Russians have surrounded 60,000 Ukrainian troops along with their neo-Nazi buddies in the Azov Battalion in what known as cauldron in Eastern Ukraine. They are either going to surrender or die. In the case of the neo-Nazis, I hope they die.

But, thanks to the idiots and gullible idiots like you, all the media coverage is Kiev and Western Ukraine, which the Russians don't even invade.

The Russian mission was to secure the pro-Russian, Eastern part of the country and that is close to being accomplished.

You're going to have to go back to streaming Red Dawn on video to get your Russian blood lust.

Seems like alot of reports of Russian planes being shot down over the last couple of days. Stingers in action???

“Today an Mi-8 from the Russian Air Force was claimed to be shot down over Volnovakha, apparently searching for the previously shot down Su-25 pilot. Whilst we cannot confirm this, it is possible a MANPADS was used.”

Reportedly, the Ukrainian Government has issued guidance that captured Russian supplies or equipment do not have to be declared as income, for tax purposes.

Not hidden cameras monitoring the Generals in that picture - giant cameras like cannons sticking into each one’s face. Clearly designed to intimidate them.

“ of course they both got the “maximum search” before they came in the room with him”

Putin is probably packing a pistol, has bulletproof armor built into his position at the table, and loyal gunman outside each door.

Restlessly sleeps the head, that wears the crown.

Another Russian maintenance TIRE problem.

“Alright, here is another Mud & truck maintenance post. Look at the tires in the video immediately under the wheel hubs.

That is oil from the wheel hubs leaking onto those tires from the hub to the ground.

The seals on those wheel hubs have failed due to dry rot. “
