This is how Trump handled Russians. Mike Pompeo, the head of the CIA and President Donald Trump's nominee for secretary of state, confirmed on Thursday that the US military killed hundreds of Russians in an intense fight in Syria. The US had previously only confirmed killing 100 or so pro-Syrian regime forces, but multiple outlets reported the number was as high as 300 and that the soldiers were Russian military contractors.

Yeah you guys hate anyone who questions the ‘official line as reported in the NYT’ about US operations, especially murky ones like al-Tanf - telling some one to shut up is a losing argument, you know.

You evidently have difficulty accepting the truth. There have been multiple sources, including Russian ones, that estimated the number of Russian casualties in the firefight to be in the many hundreds. Nobody believes the Wagner Group claim of only 15 deaths. Why would the NYTs credit Trump with this success?

The “question of numbers” that you raised was easily answered by the readily available links to two independent news reports (one of them Russian) which gave casualty estimates that are more than an order of magnitude greater than the patently absurd and self-serving claim of the Wagner Group that you singled out in your post. The carnage was so bad that aircraft bringing body bags back from the site of the battle flew into remote airports rather than into Moscow, where there would have been greater media attention. All of this was widely reported, complete with audio recordings of the terrified Wagner Group paramilitary troops, back in 2018.
Your post came across to me as more than “asking a question” but rather as a deliberate low-balling of the damage done by U.S. forces who were defending a foolhardy attack by Russian and Syrian irregulars. If I misinterpreted your intent, I apologize.
Tempers flair here now that the Russians are in conflict killing lots of innocent people. People read things into posts that are not there or not intended and launch.
I know the whole story and what you write is not news to me. Sorry your temper got the best of you. Happens a lot here in the past week.
