Vladimir Putin wants to seize all of Ukraine and "worse is to come" during the conflict, the French president has warned.
Emmanuel Macron held talks with Mr Putin over the phone this afternoon in a bid to ease tensions between Russia and the West.
According to French officials, Mr Macron told the Russian leader that he was making a "major mistake" in Ukraine, adding: "You are lying to yourself".
Following the call, Mr Macron believes "worse is to come" in the unfolding humanitarian crisis and that Mr Putin wants to seize the entire country, according to an aide.

Re: 2 - A ridiculous picture. Keep posting it in threads, keep getting called on it.
Also, the Russian Speaker of the Duma told Russians in an interview on Russian television that if Putin hadn’t ordered the “special operation” when he did, then on literally the next day NATO would have launched an operation, so that Putin saved hundreds of thousands of lives by acting when he did
If Russia is going to cross the Rubicon with NATO, Poland is the obvious choice. Its a 40klm drive from Belarus to Kaliningrad through poorly defended hard to reach Polish territory. Russia closes the Suwalki Gap, links forces in Kalingingrad with ones in Belarus and cuts off NATO ground support to the Baltic nations in one fell swoop.
This war could have been prevented.

Russian armored forces are designed to achieve 30km thrusts before having to be re-fueled and re-supplied
It appears Ukrainian forces allowed the Russian column to reach this limit and have now attacked
Of course he does. First, he’s going after all non nato countries, then after the world’s economy collapses after $150 oil, he will just cruise his way west.
sorry, meant to say northwest of Kyiv
LOL Yeah that’s an interesting article.
He’s right. If we let Putin nuclear blackmail us, then China, NK and Iran will too.
We need to be able to stand up to Putin, despite the risk of nuclear war.
And with so much of Putin’s army in Ukraine, it’s a perfect time to weaken his conventional forces.
Pressure is building to quit buying oil from Russia too. Will Putin use nukes if we do? Will he use nukes when he realizes that we’re sending him $70 million dollars a day for oil, but he can’t spend that money? Hmmm, maybe we should keep buying Russian oil and keep tightening the sanctions so he can’t spend the proceeds.
Unfortunately many think multivariate analysis can solve anything.
Macron should advise Putin that all these buildings he is destroying and war crimes he is committing will be collected from Putin’s personal wealth and the oil and mineral wealth of what ever is left of Russia when the invasion ends.
Putin had basically achieved what you laid out WITHOUT the conflict. We are missing something here OR something is wrong with Putin that led him to take an unprecedented risk for not only his future but his country.
The war was not necessary. Perhaps Putin viewed it as inevitable and decided now was the better time but I would argue that he had achieved most of his stated objectives prior to open conflict.
Putin has gambled everything on conquest in a nation that will never accept him in a world that will constantly condemn (and sanction) him. Not only that, but the oligarchs in Russia have to be incredibly pissed right about now and they have and will lose BILLIONS.
“We need to be able to stand up”
Who truly is “We”? You may think you are part of “We” but maybe not.
Facts don’t matter here when the beer hall is open and foam is slinging
Good point. There is a “club” but we ain’t members!
Videos of smaller cities leaking in to the net.
Russians are turning Ukraine into Dresden.
Putin may push the West too far with this and the upcoming siege starvation tactics.
Poland was going to send some mig-29s but somebody convinced them not to do it.
It’s a hard to glean any truths from western agit prop tidal wave but I sense Macron is the point man who will handle the eventual agreement hammered out when Putin gets all or most of what he wants
Why it’s Macron don’t ask me but I see that mentioned a lot
