Combat operations in Ukraine are coming to a critical inflection point and Congress must act now
FOX News.com ^ | march 2 | Michael Repass

Congress needs to expedite approval and delivery of a new significant package of military aid to Ukraine. We are both employees of or advisors to the Global Special Operations Force Foundation, the professional association for special operations, and we understand that we can’t wait until the middle of March for the United States to send aid.

Congress has an opportunity to quickly craft a proposal to send to the president this week. Time is of the essence. The battle for freedom and democracy in Ukraine is happening now and at a critical stage. This is the most consequential war since World War II because the outcome will shape international security structures for the next century, especially in Europe and Central Asia.

The conflict in Ukraine is a campaign that can’t be funded piecemeal. The required military material for Ukraine will exceed the $2.9 billion that is proposed in the $6.5 billion request from President Biden. Congress must approve $16.2 billion ($2.7 billion monthly for six months) to cover the required military and humanitarian aid.

Combat operations are coming to a critical inflection point whereby both sides need to replenish supplies to the fighting forces and sustain the civilian populace. The question for both sides is who will run out of supplies logistically first, thus providing either the attacker or defender a substantial, if not decisive, advantage.

The most urgent needs are to resupply the Ukrainians to defend themselves against unrestricted Russian aggression. The Ukrainian Armed Forces and populace are fighting effectively in many places but are outnumbered and often outgunned. The Russians have superior mobility and firepower but lack the essential local knowledge and the will to fight this fight.

If they’d sent this aid back in 2020 then the russians would not have penetrated the border. It’s a little late now!

Fox has gone full neo-con. Haven’t watched them since the run up to the Biden win.

No, the US does not have to act now, or at all. Is the USA the sole arbiter of who can and cannot go to war in the entire world? Did Russia stop our recent wars?

This is a different epoch for the USA, we are no longer a moral country. We are not righteous. This is all ridiculous and warmongers are going to enter this world into a nuclear nightmare. This is not on Putin, this is on globalists hellbent on making the USA and RUSSIA square off against each other, and it’s far too dangerous a game to be playing.

At this point Ukraine is lucky to still have operating railroads to evacuate citizens. Start shipping weapons in and all railroads and roads out will be destroyed.

Yes - good post. The righteous (and smart) policy would have been, 15 years ago, to declare Ukraine neutral. It would not enter NATO. Allow it to develop peacefully. Its economy would be a lot stronger, and as a nation, it would have been more unified.

Instead, the over-riding goal was expansion of NATO, and encircling Russia. We joined a game of ping-pong with Russia in Ukraine with constant government coup and counter-coup. We sent our corrupt oligarchs like Hunter Biden and Chris Kerry to replace Russia's corrupt oligarchs. Now we cynically pushed Ukraine to confront Russia - but had NO INTENTION of getting involved ourselves, thus using the Ukraine people as a pawn.

Highly immoral and strategically stupid.

The drumbeat for war is insane!

What — exactly — is our strategic interest in Ukraine, other than it has cured the Covid pandemic.

Where is Europe? They are NATO and this is their own back yard.

The Ukraine does not need military aid. They are getting what they need from Putin. A de-lousing. They will be much better off afterwards.

It’s probably a little too late. Russia cuts off air and encircling by land. No way to get artillery to Ukrainians. This is pee wee football team against the NFL. I’m not sure they should be encouraged to stay and fight. I don’t know if anything can be done.

Yes, how dare we even choose a side. I can see how Washington wants to choose Ukraine, but that’s for obvious reasons of $elf intere$t. Too many are still listening to the MSM and thinking we must choose Ukraine as our surrogate champion for democratic justice. No! Ukraine represents corruption and graft for DC insiders. We don’t root for innocent civilians to be killed, but we have no moral authority to stop Russia, especially when they haven’t attacked NATO.
