Like I asked earlier... why all the sudden are we talking about possible health issues? There might be something to it, but what Putin is doing, immoral as it is, serves Russia’s strategic interests. Remove Putin tomorrow, and the next leader will pursue the same policies.

Yeltsin did not follow the policies of Gorbachev. Gorbachev did not follow the policies of Khrushchev.
Yeltsin proved to be a caretaker during a time when everything was in Flux. With Putin you are dealing with a latter-day tsar. If NATO hadn’t violated several promises not to extend membership to countries in Eastern Europe, we may not have gotten an autocrat like Putin.
That said... WW2 started in Poland, so a failure to extend security guarantees to that country was certainly understandable.
