Reckless Neocons Want Escalation With Russia In Order To Regain Control Of The GOP (There are a lot of Neocons on FR)
The Federalist ^ | 03/01/2022 | John Daniel Davidson

Posted on 03/01/2022 11:22:07 AM PST by Az Joe

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has brought Republican neocons out of the woodwork, agitating for escalation and U.S. military involvement. The same people who brought us the Iraq War and a 20-year occupation of Afghanistan that ended last year in an ignominious and chaotic U.S. withdrawal would now like us to go to war with Russia, a nuclear power, over Ukraine.

Why? Partly because they’re reacting emotionally to the war, which is understandable up to a point. But mostly they would like to leverage a military conflict with Russia to regain control of the Republican Party, whose voters have become deeply disillusioned with foreign interventions — and with the neocons who peddled them to the American people.

"This is nothing new. FR went through a period of purging and self-exile back in the mid-2000s when a lot of us stood up and suggested that invading Islamic sh!t-holes halfway around the world and trying to turn them into Jeffersonian democracies was a bad idea.

Many of the remaining Freepers probably waited and bided their time when George W. Bush turned out to be a retarded baboon after all, and their humiliation was complete in 2016 when Yeb Bush turned out to be less popular than an arsonist among GOP voters.

Now they're all back again ... hopping on the same bandwagon that is carrying the most detestable A-holes on the world's political scene these days -- like Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney, Lizard Cheney, and Justine Trudeau."

And as usual all of that ignores that while Shrub was shrubbing there were still transactional 'wins' of the moment -- keeping our foot on the neck of retarded baboons on the other side; the idea of the deep state stretching out for a GOP hit and getting ... Scooter; and adding Alito to SCOTUS.

Truth always prevails. FR is full of real conservatives. Not the Liberaltarian nut jobs going from one conspiracy to another.

doesnt make much sense to me

even if there were an all out war with Russia,
how would that propel any so-called Neo-Cons to seize control of the GOP?

I just don’t see the connection, logic is all
maybe this is just my ignorance, could well be...

I remember fights with the Rubio and Cruz fans in 2015. Those two were doing somewhat OK until they got desperate. Then those two Uniparty drones started siding with the Democrats arguments against Trump and insulted the Republican base and they totally cratered as a consequence. Just look what happened to Ted Cruz recently when he shot his mouth off about January 6 patriots.

Neocons can comment about all these fantasies for a brokered convention but the Republican base has rejected them utterly. If they manage to pull off a brokered convention and FOP will be abandoned and die just like the Whig Party

I have been thinking a lot about that too. Interesting isn’t it, that Ukraine seems to be the corruption capitol of the world, lots and lots of US taxpayer money pouring in, and all the corrupt politicians, Biden, Pelosi, Romney, et al all seem to have friends and family riding the gravy train over there. Now Putin comes in and threatens to take it all away so now we have to go to war to protect Ukraine!

Wrong. 80% of republicans want Biden to do more to help Ukraine. Big majorities of democrats and independents also. Putin has not only united NATO, he has united the US in their hatred for him!

The Putinistas here are just embarrassing themselves.
Even Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene support Ukraine.

Well, I am pretty sure I don’t wanna go to war until our military has been re-reformed and every trace of Obama, Biden and Thoroughly Modern Miley has been removed.

A lot of Freepers are anti-Putin, but don’t go to war, but the Putin worshippers say any criticize of Putin is war.

Ain't gonna work.

RINO-traitors showed us exactly who they were in 2020.

NOTHING is going to make the base forget that in this year's primaries.

Bring on the RINO purge.

The neocons on FR are powerless, it’s the others we need to worry about. Seems like the time is at hand for Trump to start making some declarative statements about what should be done and what he would do as President. Like returning to all of his energy independence policies that will cripple Putin’s economic engine.

Not because I espect Droolin’ Joe to do so, but not is the right time to start making people aware of the choices that lie ahead.

Every day shows the choices Biden is making, and they are all the wrong ones. There are alternatives.

This country was worse off in 2008 than it was in 2000. When GWB left office we had sizable Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, along with a jug-eared exchange student from Kenya in the White House.

And let's remember that GWB himself was as much of an obstacle in the "transactional wins" you describe. If there had been any doubt about what that moron brought to the table, it should have been dispelled when he was faced with a Supreme Court vacancy that gave him an opportunity to make long-lasting progress for the conservative cause, and his first instinct was to nominate a mediocrity like Harriet Miers to the court.

He’s not mad or unstable, but he is trying maximize the value of Russia’s status as a world power, despite it’s huge problems of decline. But Putin does know that the U.S. is it’s geopolitical enemy, and he is no friend of the U.S.

i’ve been saying for weeks we have no interests in ukraine. Its not worth our soldier’s blood.

however, i did later read that we are a signatory on an agreement or maybe even a treaty where ukraine gives up its nukes and is recognized by both russia and the rest of the world as a sovereign nation.

Not really sure how that all works, but if we guaranteed their safety then we need to get in the war and deal with the deal-breaker. I hate the idea of it, but we need to keep our promises or we will be considered unreliable partners\allies in the future.

And then we are back to me not know how that works because with shitforbrains in charge right now, we should look pretty unreliable to outsiders, too.
