Unfortunately Texas and So. California are already being ceded to Mexico. Florida to NY.
And, yes, there are lots of things we get from China, but all can be gotten elsewhere, or we can rebuild these industries. Short-term pain, but necessary.
Otherwise, are you suggesting we continue commerce with China even while we might be directly or indirectly at war with them? Funding our enemy?

Yes? Taiwan’s semiconductor industry was developed by US international corporations. It’s industrial base is a highly valued strategic prize that the CCP wants.

The United States has held the position that Taiwan is part of China since 1945, and that the two form a unitary state since 1983.
Israel will never attack Iran, it would be suicidal.
This will just push more nations to pursue nukes as a matter of national survival.
We just need the resolve to cut China off, and that would reign in China. And if they do invade Taiwan, we should make sure every bit of manufacturing in Taiwan is absolutely, even if accidentally, destroyed.
Better get those domestic chip production facilities online ASAP.

We do not have the base to build up alone.
I hate it. Have seen it coming for years. But we can’t start our own semiconductor industry (or restart) without massive overseas help from Taiwan and honestly, China.
This isn’t short term pain. This is lights out. The damn fools sold the seed corn and now there is nothing left to plant.
Same like we can’t just recreate 1800’s society whole cloth. We don’t have the base that knows how to blacksmith, weave, etc.
We (the West and US) sold our future for easy money and fast times. Now the bill is coming do and we have lost the machines and knowledge to do it. Hell, I know of whole PLANTS that were taken down bolt by bolt and sent to China.
