the folks having meltdowns here is bizarre.

as you say, this is as simple as looking at a map, or reversing the scenario.

doesn’t mean it is ‘good’ or ‘bad’ but it certainly isn’t hard to understand.

Biden does the same.

Nobody picked up the bit in an EO this week: Joe declared sanctions, ending all US economic activity in the “breakaway” area ... stating that the sanctions did not affect Ukraine/Ukrainians. To wit: Biden ceded the annexation.
This was in a larger context blathering about “consequences” against Russia. He gave away part of Ukraine while declaring he wouldn’t - just shifted what constituted Ukraine.

The West's promise to defend Ukraine if they gave up Soviet-era nukes on their territory now rings as hollow as the promises of Britain and France to defend Poland prior to that country being invaded.

More hollow by far. France and Britain actually did defend Poland and France lost the war as a result of it and Britain nearly did. We're not even making a pretense of defending Ukraine aside from our pathetic VP saying, "C'mon guys!"

Command and control. Cut off the Capitol from the troops in Eastern Ukraine. I agree, he might go after the whole shebang. He might see that as avoiding the kinds of problems divided jurisdictions have, like for instance Cyprus...

yes, with the added kicker of the non-russian gov there now intending to join nato, which is assumed to eventually mean american air and air defense assets deep in the former USSR (ukraine).

folks are having meltdowns over this but it isn’t hard to understand. just a map helps.

putin is a thug but not a fool. whatever his calculus on this is now, it is obviously better than letting ukraine join nato.

He did it to validate Biden’s prediction that invasion would happen on Wednesday. Joe just got the week wrong.

“The dirt to have Biden impeached is there in Ukraine.”

Have wondered about what they (Ukranians) might have over the pervert.

The French and British could do nothing to defend Poland on Polish soil. Hitler took the fight to them. So both promises are just as empty.

The dirt to have Biden impeached is there in Ukraine. We could see a toppled Biden within the next couple of months. President Cackles here we come.

You show us the silver lining, then you yank it back! Well, I hope Putin exposes Biden -- I don't know the Ukrainians would -- but with any luck he also has the goods on Harris.

Which deep-state fools thought it would be a good idea to sign up Ukraine into Nato?

How about instead of Ukraine-Russia border, spare some worry for US-Mexico border for a change?

Think of this - speaking of unexpected consequences:

What about a limited nuclear exchange - say take out a dozen major Democrat run cities.

Be terrible ... but we’d have Republican presidents for the next 40 years.

Map doesn’t help much when I was shocked how small the Ukraine is! Thought it was much bigger.
