In a word, No. This is not a democracy; we are a republic. If you want to vote on a war, you best vote right every 2 years and watch out the Democrats don't steal the election.
This was just a bit of black pill sarcasm using the “our democracy” line all the media and movies use to cast this illusion of choice spell over us. It’s a lie that we have legitimate democratic elections. It’s a lie that we have a representative republic because everybody we send to Washington is only effective for about 2 seconds after they set foot on the Hill.
All we really have is our individual local spheres of influence. This is what’s real and good. Any attempt to reach beyond that is corrupted by our immoral, demoralized culture. That is what’s just news and entertainment and theater.
