The seas lapping against America’s coastlines are rising ever faster and will be 10 to 12 inches higher by the year 2050, with major Eastern cities hit regularly with costly floods even on sunny days, a government report says.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and six other federal agencies issued a 111-page report Tuesday that warns of “significant consequences” from rising seas in the next few decades, with parts of Louisiana and Texas projected to see waters a foot and a half (0.45 meters) higher.
However, the worst of the long-term sea level rise from the melting of ice sheets in Antarctica and Greenland probably won’t kick in until after 2100, the study’s lead author said.
Because of climate change, the nation’s coastlines on average will see as much sea level rise in the next 30 years as they did in the previous century , said lead author William Sweet, an oceanographer for NOAA’s National Ocean Service.
While higher seas cause much more damage when storms such as hurricanes hit the coast, they are becoming a problem even on sunny days.

I’m not going to check your numbers now, but please provide references. I did simple googles to find references for my numbers. If your doomsday glacier is floating, then 87% of it is underwater already. So no farther displacement from that. And based on my earlier check of this, I doubt any single glacier, even yours, would amount to a significant rise given the massive ocean surface area.
Well, I did find a mistake in my back of the envelope calculation, squaring instead of cubing ft/mile when converting cubic miles to cubic feet. I can’t find references for your glacier volume, but I concede my estimate assuming complete melting of all glaciers to be off. That was of course not realistic to assume 100% melt off. But my half inch estimate is also a low ball.
Big numbers get messy.
Would take care of the coastal rot we are all experiencing, bring it on!
Amazon series. It is pretty good.
Yeah, big numbers are messy. A lefty friend sent me an article about the so-called doomsday glacier in Antartica. I’ll try to find it.
I often tweak this individual saying things like I actually favor warming weather trends. He believes any warming is due to man’s activities and will have devastating consequences, citing things like this glacier. I know it’s all bullish!t.
If my arithmetic is right, that ice cube is over 47 time the volume of Lake Michigan. No way is that thing simply going to get up and move. Good luck changing a dug-in lib’s mind though.
Your friend is probably hoping beyond hope that so called man caused global warming will destroy the planet. Just so..as we are all dying he can say,see I told you so.
Cars and unrestrained cow farts are evil.
Where have we heard this before? Al Gore said that NYC would be underwater by now. Meanwhile Obammy and Gore bought mansions very close to the water in Martha’s Vineyard and Monticeto. Not happening despite the constant scaremongering by the Left.
What happened to Global Warming montra? Replaced by Climate Change due to the fact that actual data showed the earth cooling. Yes the climate changes. We had rain yesterday in LA and sunshine today.
Thats silly for your lefty friend to cite this glacier as an example of man-made global warming since its being heated up from the Earth below. How does he make that leap?
The oceans are already 100 feet higher. /s
I couldn’t find the original article, here’s something similar (sorry not html literate):

Silly of him indeed.
