The insight my grandmother had was very subtle:
—Television was designed to influence opinion, which meant that anyone on it had an agenda (what we now call a “narrative”).
—That agenda was very consistent, and was designed to create an “Overton Window” of what was “respectable” thought.
—This was a form of intimidation to stop people from thinking for themselves.
The truth about events if often very complex and can be looked at from many different angles. TV was designed to stop you from being inquisitive, and to shut you up if you had an unconventional view about any topic.
The BEST thing I ever did was stop watching Network and local affilate news a couple decades ago. They’re all leftist organisms, IMO.
