David Perdue Slams Stacey Abrams and Brian Kemp in ‘Unmask Our Kids’ Ad (great ad!)
breitbart.com ^ | 2/7/22 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 02/07/2022 6:44:37 AM PST by cotton1706

Georgia gubernatorial candidate former Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) is slamming both Democrat Stacey Abrams and Republican Gov. Brian Kemp in a new “Unmask Our Kids” digital ad campaign in the Peach State, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.

Perdue’s campaign on Monday morning will release a 15-second digital ad featuring the photograph of Abrams not wearing a mask while every child in a classroom she spoke to was forced to wear one. In the ad, provided to Breitbart News exclusively ahead of its public release, text appears on screen first slamming Abrams: “This is the Georgia Stacey Abrams wants.”

Then, Perdue turns his sights on his GOP primary opponent for not outlawing masks on children in schools. “This is the reality Brian Kemp has allowed,” the text on screen says.

Then the ad says, “Unmask our kids.”

“We all know Stacey Abrams’ hypocrisy knows no bounds,” Perdue said in a statement provided exclusively to Breitbart News. “Liberals’ thirst for power during this pandemic has caused enormous damage to our kids, while the elite like Stacey continue living their lives. What is even worse is that this is a classroom in Brian Kemp’s Georgia, not New York or California. Many Georgia kids are facing this mask nonsense every day. Kemp has failed students and parents by allowing liberal school districts to force mask mandates upon them. It’s a disgrace and it needs to end. It’s time to empower parents and reign in these power-hungry career politicians.”

During the entire ad, the backdrop is the photo of Abrams egregiously not wearing a mask while all the children in the school classroom behind her are wearing one. Abrams had originally tweeted the photo but removed it from her Twitter feed when she realized how hypocritical it made her look.

And, just like that, Vernon Jones announced that he’s dropping out of the gubernatorial race and endorsing Perdue: https://www.ajc.com/politics/politics-blog/vernon-jones-abandons-bid-for-governor-to-run-for-us-house-seat/NBRBJ755ENER3IIJ4PJO6YUDGA/

The article says that Jones hasn’t announced in which CD he’ll be running, but quoted some insiders who said that it most likely will be the Athens-area GA-10, which in only partly within the Atlanta TV market, so fewer GOP primary voters will remember his liberal voting record in the state legislature.

BTW, I was not aware until I read that article that Jones voted against GA’s “heartbeat” abortion ban in 2019 (less than three years ago!). I don’t care how loud he yells “MAGA!,” I will not support a pro-abortion candidate in any Republican or competitive district in GA (so I withdraw my proposal of Jones running in GA-02). And if President Trump endorses Jones over any of the dozen pro-life conservatives in the GA-10 race, conservatives will stop viewing his endorsements as a positive sign.

Here’s the deal with Curtis Sliwa, Vernon Jones, and, I’m afraid, Allen West:

They have Alan Keyes Disease. They keep running for offices for which they can’t get elected. In the case of West, when he does get elected, he doesn’t stay and do the work.

Keyes used to talk big, but would only run for the Senate in MD (no chance) or “president.” Why did he never run for Congress and hold a seat for a while and show how he actually would vote on tough issues. (And yes, sooner or later every pol has to make a deal to advance one thing he favors and to vote for something he hates).

The perpetually running politician concerns me. Now, Jones is a “drop down,” that is going from a race for a higher office to a lower one, so I would support him. But perpetual pols like Mike DeWine, who just jumps from one gubment job to another need to go.

Yes, on the D side absolutely. By now someone should tell him to butt out.

Col. West only has run for two offices, that of FL Congressman and TX Governor. He was gerrymandered out of his seat in 2012 after he won it in 2010. I expect he would’ve run for FL Governor before long had he won reelection. He was chosen for the position of TX GOP Chairman, but soon realized (and it was not very surprising) that he preferred to just run straight out for Governor (but could not do that from the chairman position without it being a conflict of interest). So I reject the comparisons in your post.

As for Amb. Keyes, short of moving somewhere else, he was residing in a Congressional district that would not have elected him (though it did send the leftist RINO Connie Morella) in Montgomery County, MD. I lament that he was conned into running that IL Senate race in 2004, when the corrupt GOP wing of the Combine had zero intention of giving him one iota of support.

As for Vernon Jones, I personally wanted to see him face off against the execrable Scaty Abrams. I think Perdue just is another unimpressive establishment hack, and given that his Senate seat was openly stolen from him, he didn’t react in any way to fight the fraud. He may be one click better than the corrupt Kemp, but I see little changing in GA with him. Since Jones is a recent convert politically, I don’t see where he could run for Congress in those two given seats where he would be substantially better than the present people running.

Might be better off having Gov. Perdue appoint him to head up a blue ribbon committee on overseeing GA voter fraud in the state come next January.

Vernon dropped out officially yesterday. It will be Perdue vs Kemp in GOP nomination race.

Jones is running in the 10th, and Mac Collins’ son poured every can of whoop ass in the state right on his head with this ad.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwNUe0f5uVs

I wished he would be Governor but some of these things mentioned might be why Trump wanted Perdue instead.

I don’t think I love his odds vs. Collins and Broun...even with the big guy’s support.

Yeah, that video will leave a mark.

I loved the *idea* of Vernon Jones—the “conservative Democrat” from an overwhelmingly black district (and county) who saw the light—but it appears that Jones was pro-gun and relatively frugal when it came to public spending but otherwise a down-the-line Leftist while in the GA legislature and as DeKalb County Executive. There is absolutely no explanation for his vote against the GA heartbeat bill in March 2019 other than (i) he’s pro-abortion or (ii) he was too cowardly to vote for an abortion ban because he wanted to be elected Speaker if the Democrats captured the GA house (and, after the vote, he predicted that it would cost the GOP the state house because Georgians wouldn’t stand for a six-week abortion ban).

So either Jones is pro-abortion (and thus unsuitable to represent a conservative district, or, really, anything but an overwhelmingly Democrat district) or he’s not quite the “brave conservative” who “defied the Leftist Democrats” while in the state legislature. Jones now claims that he voted against the six-week abortion ban “because it did not ban abortions before six weeks,” but that is ridiculous on its face. No pro-lifer has ever, or would ever, vote against a six-week abortion ban when even a 20-week abortion ban tends to get struck down by the courts. Jones is lying about why he voted with the pro-abortion lobby less than three years ago, and I would not trust him today.

That being said, President Trump has made some terrible endorsements in the past, and he tends to value personal loyalty over everything else, so I would not be surprised if he endorsed Jones and if that was enough to carry him into the runoff (and perhaps to win it). I already take President Trump’s endorsements with a grain of salt, but if he endorses Jones I will begin to look at them as a reason not to support his endorsed candidate, as I do with endorsements from Ron and/or Rand Paul. (BTW, his historical connection to Ron and Rand Paul is one reason why I would not support Paul Braun in the GA-10 primary.)

Even before Vernon Jones’s entry to the race, the GA-10 already had nine (NINE!) candidates whose campaigns had raised between $200,000 and $1,000,000 as of the December 31, 2021. I can’t say that I had a particular favorite before this week, although I did like Mike Collins because his dad (Mac) was a good congressman and because he has raised the most money ($956,000). And after seeing the ad that Collins produced exposing Vernon Jones’s Leftist record and unfitness for office, I can say that Collins is now my preferred candidate in GA-10.

BTW, the filing deadline in GA is March 11, and so far in the GA-02 (Sanford Bishop’s CD, still Democrat-leaning and like 45% black but made a bit less Democratic voting in redistricting) we have two white Republicans who have raised over $100,000 each and three black Republicans who have combined to raise less than $10,000. There is still time for a strong candidate to file there, or for U.S. Army veteran and conservative TV pundit Jeremy Hunt (https://www.jeremyforgeorgia.com/), who is a great candidate on paper, to start raising the $500,000+ that he will need to be competitive (as of December 31, he had raised exactly $0), but it would be a shame if Bishop gets reelected by 51%-49% because we did not find a candidate that could eat into Bishop’s black support and pull off the upset.

Vernon Jones was actually polling pretty high in Governor’s race, until this telecast of the Stu Peters show, which resulted in his polling crashing hard over the next few days.

https://www.brighteon.com/a3d541bf-c78e-4ea4-803e-d328b631e7a5

Many might not think that Peters show has that kind of reach, but this video did go viral and Jones’ support did collapse all within a very short time frame.

I’m only a casual observer of the Georgia races but do remember when this happened, however I otherwise have no idea if this is true or still an issue for him. Guess we’ll find out.

Gunzburger tweeted that ad the other day, when I posted it here this morning it had 1 like and zero comments (sadly I didn’t note the view count), now it has 14 likes (I wish you could still see dislikes) and several comments, most them pro-Jones and hateful of Collins. I guess Freepers are inclined to forgive Jones for the past...and not many of us look at Politics1 feed. ;-)

That’s where I saw the ad, on Politics1.com (the website itself). But I’m not on Twitter, so I couldn’t comment on it.

It’s sad that so many FReepers are backing Jones even when they find out about his past (including his very recent past). I know that people can change, but you can’t tell me that someone who voted against the “heartbeat” abortion ban less than three years ago should be the GOP nominee over real conservatives in GA-10. Similarly, I have a bad feeling about the Trump-endorsed candidate for governor of AZ, who was an outspoken liberal Democrat a few short years ago. (DJ, I know that you share my concern about her.) President Trump should do more vetting and less shooting from the hip when it comes to endorsements.

OT this is fun, gerrymander state lines.

https://kevinhayeswilson.com/redraw/

You can’t create extra states but you can cut states by moving all their counties, which causes 2 electoral votes to disappear.

Per usual the uniparty has covered all angles.

No, Trump won’t endorse Jones for Gov. He will endorse him for a House seat. Purdue will win this if MAGA turns out.

Baris has been following this. Kemp has a ceiling.

Despite my endorsement of Jones for Governor (mainly because I believed we needed a bulldog to go after the horrible Scaty Abrams), I can’t similarly endorse him for this House seat. Different set of dynamics entirely. Now, if he wanted to take on that imbecilic Hank Johnson in his own district, that would be a different story.

In any event, I don’t think Vernon will prevail in the House primary in the 10th. President Trump’s endorsement was likely out of common courtesy, but I think even he knows Jones won’t win this race. I also believe the reason Trump was reticent to endorse Jones for Governor was because of what was aired in Collins’s ad and why he had to go with the whitebread Perdue.
