It’s to the point of absurdity, the ways in which the leftist media tries to destroy Republicans. While senators and congressmen definitely have targets on their backs from the press, governors are where the majority of their fire not directed at anyone named Trump has been trained. Gregg Abbott, Kristi Noem, and the main target of the left’s anger and hatred: Ron DeSantis.
It makes sense that those Governors would be targets, Texas and Florida are huge states, and Noem is a smart, attractive, conservative woman. When you want to accuse Republicans of a “war on women” or just generally being misogynists, it’s wildly inconvenient to have one of the top Republicans in the country being a woman.
Worse than that is to have one of the most successful politicians in the country being a Republican. That is who Ron DeSantis is. Therefore, he must be destroyed.
DeSantis has been on the correct side of every COVID decision – refusing to shut down schools or the economy, shunning vaccine mandates for treatments that work and no mask mandates. He’s the polar opposite of Joe Biden, Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, and Andrew Cuomo.
Him being right is something the left would do anything to hide. At the start of the pandemic, DeSantis was demonized for refusing to follow Cuomo’s example in New York, and I’m not talking about the sexual assaults. Cuomo panicked, but was portrayed as playing it cool. His order to force COVID infected patients into nursing homes cost upwards of 15,000 lives that didn’t need to be lost. Florida, on the other hand, had no such order and took measures to protect its large senior population.
One was called a monster, the other a savior. Guess which was which.
The pervert with the dozen women alleging sexual misconduct got a $5 million book deal and will be rehabbed in due time. The guy with a higher senior population and significantly lower death rate among them is Hitler reincarnated because he still won’t force people do what is proving to not work.
I could go through and point out all the absurdities of the attacks on DeSantis, but that’s a book, not a column. I’ll just highlight one of the most recent hypocrisies from a media that simply can’t help itself.
On January 28, the Washington Post ran a story titled, “Covid-19 may have seasons for different temperature zones, study suggests.” This piece of journalism begins, “Covid-19 transmission may have seasonal spikes tied to temperature and humidity, increasing at different times of the year for different locations, a new study in the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene suggests. Colder regions, such as the U.S. Northeast, may experience more cases during winter, while warmer regions, such as the southern United States, may see higher transmissions in the summer. More-temperate zones could experience two seasonal peaks.”
Makes sense, at least to anyone with a brain who has lived through the last 2 years.
In fact, it’s so obvious, many people noticed this long before last Friday. On August 13 of last year, the very same Washington Post ran a story entitled, “DeSantis blames Florida’s surge on ‘covid season.’ That’s misleading, experts say.” The number of “experts” cited in the piece is 2, 1 of whom is simply listed as a physician and college professor.
Five and a half months apart, the exact opposite story. One is exclusively about Ron DeSantis being awful, the other is about how he was right. Curiously, the one in which he is proven correct does not mention his name at all.
In August, the Post’s “expert” was reported as saying, “the novel coronavirus remains relatively new compared with other viruses and not enough data has accumulated since the beginning of 2020 to determine the environmental facts that could influence its course. But the available data from Florida shows that the state has experienced waves throughout the year, including last year’s winter surge.”
Now, parroting DeSantis without mentioning it or giving him credit, new “experts” say, “Fewer cases were detected between 62 and 75 degrees, a temperature range considered more tolerable for people to be outside.” What a difference party identification makes.
It’d be funny were it not so pathetic, and it’d be surprising were it not so expected.
Kristi Noem’s wounds are definitely self-inflicted, so I don’t blame the media for her. She seems intent on pleasing special interests, rather than the Republican base. It’s her right to do that, if she thinks it’s in the interest of South Dakota, but we all know what that means at the national level, as we’re still trying to recover from 12 years of the Bush’s.
I’m Glad Noem, Nikki Hailley and Greg Abbot are in the party, but we don’t need them as President.
They still believe Corporations won’t sell us all out for a Dollar for a spot in the one world government.
I’m less glad grifters like George P are in the party. He personally will sell us out for a Dollar.
desantis is running for reelection for florida governor this year...
the election is less than 10 months away...
expect the escalation of enemedia attacks...
Well, the whole Covid saga has been just one big cluster for the establishment. Overreaching is what they do whenever they feel confident or threatened, which is all they ever feel. It’s obvious now they: 1. Didn’t have a clue about much of anything related to Covid and were just making things up as they went along, 2. They knew what was going on because it was planned and executed to enable them to be more extreme than usual, or more probably 3. a combo of 1 & 2 plus the constant lying as their fake narrative disintegrated. We are getting a full view of the sociopathic elite who wish to rule the planet for their own benefit. Those who value their freedom should take note and do what’s necessary to protect themselves and their posterity. The best way to do that is through electing strong, conservative (real ones) candidates at all levels, and then supporting them. Until there are serious consequences for the establishment for what they are doing, nothing will change. Enforcement of existing laws can save our country, while letting the current “prosecutors” get away with what they are doing currently will lead to our demise as a nation.
Very well said.

I’m with you. The top job is VICIOUS. There are very few Republicans who can both move up the ranks, and at the same time, fully understand the Left, and how they now operate through corporate America, at least when it comes to dealing with Republicans. Noem and Hailley, clearly, do not understand that, Abbott I can’t tell either way. Trump didn’t even try to move up the ranks as a Republican - he knew they would have taken him out before he rose to dog catcher.
I don't live in Florida, so I don't have my finger on the pulse of politics there. However, I have to believe DeSantis is in a good position for re-election.
Any Floridians here?

My 1st choice vote 2024
Coronavirus PING!

My problem with Trump getting the nomination is the ‘rats, MSM, ‘rat AG’s harassing him 24/7 with lawsuits, expose’ endlessly.
They are going to go after DeSantis also but have much less to work with.
No question I’ll vote for Trump if he’s the nominee but so many unhinged people out there that are ABT. Not sure he could win.
Love to see him in there but....
If Trump runs, and he will (barring health reasons), DeSantis won’t. So it’s not going to be an either/or issue. It will be Trump in 2024, followed by DeSantis in 2028. Anyhow, DeSantis’ wife is fighting breast cancer, and I firmly believe DeSantis would not run nationally in 2020 if his wife is still dealing with her disease.
