A 20-year-old man was charged Monday with attempted first-degree murder in the death of an off-duty Vancouver police officer who was shot by a Clark County sheriff’s deputy during a confrontation at the officer’s home. [snip] Deputies with an aerial view of the home from an unmanned drone said the man, later identified as Segura, and the officer, later identified as Sahota, were physically fighting in front of the home, documents say. A pistol was seen falling to the ground, court documents said.
Numerous deputies arrived at the home, according to documents. Segura fled into the home, followed by Sahota, who had grabbed the gun and chased Segura, documents show. One of the responding deputies fired shots, striking Sahota, who was on the front porch, court documents said.

NJ started doing that years ago when innocent people were dying in stolen car chases - even if the cop car struck them - using the same logic. I have no problem charging someone with manslaughter if they create a dangerous situation that leads to a fatality.
The whole story here is:
There’s about 20 LEO on scene trying to figure out what’s going on. Deputy Itchy Trigger Finger rolls up, exits his vehicle, and opens fire twenty seconds after arriving. The other LEO on scene already are wondering WTF? because they did not see Person B as an immediate threat.
My pleasure! (-:
No offense but I was raised in Vancouver, and we always wanted to make sure that people didn’t confuse us with Portlanders. Vancouver is its own city of close to 200,000 (only 39,000 in 1968 when I first moved there) The only time any news was reported on in Vancouver was if it could somehow benefit Portland as in Portland and Oregon good, Vancouver and Washington bad. They wouldn’t even broadcast our local HS sports scores on the nightly news.
I recall when Mt St. Helens blew all the news reports were coming from the Portland TV stations. People not familiar with the location stated to believe the Mt St. Helens was in Portland.
Again, no offense, it’s just a pet peeve of mine.
Vancouver, WA, is at the bottom of the state. Vancouver, BC, Canada, is at the top of state.
Maybe it was being so close to Portland that caused Herrera-Beutler to vote to impeach Trump.
Rule number four.
“Rule number four.”
Exactly. Too many geniuses with badges see someone with a firearm and immediately jump to the conclusion that it’s okay to kill them.
I don’t live in her district any longer and she is gutless swamp creature.
My Rep. Dan Newhouse, also sealed his political fate when he voted to impeach. Another deplorable who wants to import illegals for cheap farm labor here in the Yakima Valley.
