Critical Race Theory Is Dividing Democrats—and Rallying Republicans

Those of us worried about the corrosive effects of cancel culture and critical race theory are often accused of obsessing over the culture wars at the expense of "real" issues. But new data suggests that. the culture war is only going to rise in importance in future elections—to the benefit of Republicans. This is the gist of survey results contained in my new Manhattan Institute report, The Politics of the Culture Wars in Contemporary America.

Already, cancel culture and applied critical race theory (CRT) are leading priorities for Republican voters and a mid-ranking issue overall—in large part because they unite conservatives while dividing the Left; on one side you have cultural liberals, those who espouse classical liberal views about free speech, due process, equal treatment before the law and elsewhere and the scientific method. On the other is a rising cohort of cultural socialists, who prioritize protecting disadvantaged groups from offense while redistributing self-esteem and power. These aims are used to justify restricting people's freedom of speech and conscience.

Cultural socialism grows out of wokeness, the idea that historically marginalized race and gender minorities are sacred: more spiritual, moral, fragile and helpless than members of advantaged groups. And unlike causes advanced by the Left in the past, which pushed for equal rights for Black and gay Americans under the auspices of classical liberalism, cultural socialism is likely to provoke a sustained backlash from cultural liberals. But while the cultural socialists are in the decided minority—there are two cultural liberals for every cultural socialist in America—cultural socialists have a slight advantage among Millennials and Gen-Z. And as these relatively woke generations enter the electorate, they will start to edge out their more moderate elders.

Golly gee, SEE what happens when you push back on the left, RINO Republicans??

But you insisted on cowering in fear, because somebody MIGHT call you a racist.

But pantywaists ALWAYS cower in the corner.

“But you insisted on cowering in fear, because somebody MIGHT call you a racist.”

I would say that most RINOs aren’t afraid. Most RINOs secretly agree with the progressive left. At the very least, RINOs and progressives both want an all powerful government.

This is the damage caused by our public education system, propagandizing to hate rather than teaching them to learn.

What is self serving twaddle and prattling for $400?

You end up with an ineffective teacher ‘corps’, and it begs the question....if you don’t want the ‘service’ and drag your kids off to home-schooling/private schools...what becomes of the marginally capable person with the teaching certificate and no other real skill in life?

I could see 300 teachers in Georgia being told that there aren’t enough students for the August 2022 session, and your path to a job is cut.

There they go again...they talking about MAGA Republicans or Jeb! Bush Republicans? I’m pretty sure if Trump made comments critical of CRT,some RINO or Bush-leaguer would be on TV the next day calling him out for it.

That’s why we deserve what were getting.

CRT is pure Marxism. One marginalized group struggling against the privileged oppressor group. In this case it is the whites against the non whites and it is a racial struggle.

To paraphrase one song from The Wall: “You can’t discuss race unless you use our Marxist comprehension of race!!! How can you discuss race without our Marxist comprehension?!?”

Republican Voter: “Stop stabbing me in the back!”

Elected Republican: “Being nice to and getting along with Democrats is statesman like.” *stabby stabby stabby*

It's just no longer tenable to claim that these questions aren't on voters' radar and can't swing elections.

The writer of this piece doesn't give a damn about the ethics of the situation - he only cares if 'the issue' hurts democrats chances of getting elected. One more reason to vote out every democrat on any ballot at any time...

The only people that like CRT are people who hate white people for whatever reason. It is by definition racist.

Republicans love to reach across the aisle but don’t have the common courtesy to give their voters a reach around.

CRT is racist. Very racist. Its also rampant in corporate American, who until they get sued by people they discriminate against, will not stand up for what is right.

Wokeness is about power.

Power is a zero sum game.

The woke want total and absolute power, and they want everyone else to have zero power.

Easy peasy.

That’s why the best response to them is open mocking and derision. Their power is the power of bullies, of brow-beating cowards and bottom dwelling Commie filth.

Make them mad, enrage them, laugh at them and mock them.

They are good for nothing else.
