Barry Manilow came out and said, say what? I never said that, nor did any of my representatives.

Seriously, he said it was a stupid twitter rumor and he wants to stay on Spotify.

Oh that’s good if it’s a lie. He’s probably easily the biggest one so far that’s been talked about. Not a fan really anyway.

I didn’t even know Manilow was even ON Spotify to begin with.

BTW, my sister was a big Spotify fan, It was on, on, on, all the time.

Then she got back into Vinyl.

Now we go “Vinyl Hunting” together at all the flea markets and yard sales, clean ‘em’ spin ‘em, reminisce, enjoy the cover art and liner notes, and fill our homes with the music that involves all of the five senses:

Sight: The Cover Art, Liner Notes, and Lyrics printed out on the inner sleeve, and other oddities of certain cover designs such as the working zipper on “Sticky Fingers”, the Posters folded up inside certain albums, the die-cut jackets of Rod Stewart and the Rolling Stones, and the different colored vinyl on some of the newer releases.

Hearing: The wonderful, warm, Analog sound that uses the full frequency spectrum and is not compressed into a teeny-weeny MP3 bandwidth.

Smell: Ah, the smell of fresh vinyl, the stinging pungency of record-cleaning-fluid, the musky undertone of old cardboard, and even the topnote of fresh plastic wrap on new releases, all contribute to the bouquet of record-collecting.

Taste: Well, this is subjective, but modern music sucks. Classic Rock on the original vinyl in good condition (produced on REAL musical instruments) beats the alleged auto-tuned, quantized, sequenced, CRAP that passes for music these days.

and, finally,

Touch: The actual feel of the bass rumbling your kishkes from big Klipsch or Vintage Altec-Lansing Speakers, driven by a Marantz or Harmon-Kardon Amplifier, and the sensation of actually being “inside” the music. Touch is also involved in delicately opening the plastic sleeve with a razor blade, sliding out the inner sleeve, removing the record carefully by its edges, placing it on the turntable, and lowering the needle in the exact right spot so it doesn’t fall off...and then hearing that first note.

Spotify can’t compete with that. And with Spotify, they CHOOSE THE MUSIC for you.

And so, I am going out to shovel mass quanities of snow right now, but first, I think I will put on side two of Abby Road and crank it.
