OAN Founder Finally Addresses AT&T, Asks Viewers to Help Find New Home
Times of San Diego ^ | January 21, 2022 | Ken Stone

The founder and CEO of San Diego-based One America News on Thursday appealed to viewers of his far-right network to contact their cable provider to carry OAN.

Robert Herring Sr. commented publicly for the first time on “surprise” news a week ago that AT&T and DirecTV would drop OAN.

“Whether it’s Spectrum, Dish, or any of the other great providers … let them know that you would like for them to carry One America News,” he said in a 2 1/2-minute segment.

He even revealed what OAN makes in the carriage agreement.

“We only charge 10 cents per household per month,” Herring said. “That is a great deal by any standard, giving all of the amazing content our team puts out.”

In March 2016, OAN sued AT&T, complaining that AT&T had decided to acquire DirecTV and wind-down U-verse without telling Herring Networks. A year later, the case was dismissed at the request of both parties.

But in that original complaint, OAN said its monthly carriage fee was 18 cents per subscriber.

More recently, a leading market analytics firm listed OAN’s affiliate fee at 12 cents, which is what Media Matters President Angelo Carusone tweeted in October.

“AT&T has been what certainly seems like overpaying for OANN,” said a Media Matters spokeswoman Friday. “Fees are set by negotiation, but a big driver is demand score (the number of people requesting the channel). OANN doesn’t have a particular high demand score and certainly not one that would justify 12 cents.”

In 2019, OAN claimed to be available to 35 million households, but its actual viewership has been placed at only tens of thousands.

I’ve got Firestick. If cable kills it I’ll get it there.

Far Right. We think we are average people with conservative leanings and they think we are fascists. They may not actually think we are fascists but they bully us into silence by calling us names in the finest juvenile traditions.

Ever wonder when we will hear “Radio Free America” coming in from some obscure location outside what used to be our country?

Sling is where we're headed, once I can convince my wife to cut the cord. Doing so will have us drop AT&T's Uverse TV service.

That was a majorly dumb thing to do. Ask your viewers help on digging dirt on an industry chairman.
That’s almost as bad as when Meghan Kelly used her talk show on NBC to interview women bringing sexual harrassment suits against executives of NBC.

One America News Network can be viewed via Apple TV, Roku or Amazon’s Fire TV

That’s how I’ve been watching for the last 7 years. AppleTV through the KlowdTV App, at $4.99/month.
Great news show and hosts/reporters at OANN.

The question is, can they find a replacement for the 90% of their revenue which they were getting from the DirecTV deal?

This is awful. I don't subscribe to any pay TV, but would like to support them.

I love OAN. KlowdTV is OANs own distribution “network”. They have an app for android, Amazon FireTV, and other TV “boxes”, or you can currently watch it on your computer for free.

I subscribe for $2.50 a month and get 64 channels; they have other plans as well. Some of the channels are good... most are not that great. But just OAN used to cost $5 a month. There are two OAN channels which are my favorites. KlowdTV is a bargain.

Everything we have is tied into that damnable AT&T. Time for a radical change.

Us too unfortunately.

The better question is if you are paying DirecTV/AT&T a dime

...why?

I'll be cutting off Direct tv soon so I wanted to ask people here what the best solution is for cutting tv service. I've been thinking about an Android TV box for about $50. If I have a browser on it, I can get almost every channel I have now, but I don't want to have to type in URL's every time I want to change channels. Is there a subscription I should look at that has FNC and OAN? I have a smart TV that has many apps, but you have to stop what you are watching and switch each time to another app. LIke going from Youtube to free channels like Pluto and Tubi takes 30-40 seconds or even longer just to see what's on. It just looks to slow and complicated to try to remember which app has what station on it.

I know there are many cord cutters here and would like to see what you guys are doing.

Can’t sue them under current law; but they can be turned into public utilities. They should have no more ability to deny service for political reasons than your power company, water company, or bank. Alternately, antitrust law should be strengthened to allow them to be broken up. Sorry, libertarians, but they are using their economic freedom to destroy economic freedom.
