When Obama was president, many here at Free Republic theorized that Obama was not really running things either. While Obama was great at reading speeches, he appeared rather doofusy when he spoke off the cuff, and made gaffes like "57 states", "corpse-man instead of "corpsman", his "Muslim faith" when he was supposed to say "Christian faith", etc. The theory then was that Valerie Jarret was the power behind the throne. I think you are correct that "Obama" is running things, if by "Obama" you mean the cabal that ran things for him is now running things for Joe.
