For all his faults, and he had them in spades, Trump did some really amazing things during his term in office, especially given the near absence of support from other republicans. If he were elected again, I don't doubt he'd be twice the wrecking ball he was the first time, and at least three times as entertaining while doing it.
DeSantis is everything Trump supporters wanted out of Trump but without a lot of the baggage that Trump brings. He should be a first choice, but if he's the second choice, he's one hell of a runner-up and he can beat Trump while respecting Trump and his voters. It doesn't have to be an all out war (Trump can also do the same, though his track record is not really good at respecting his opponents. He has to get his digs in even if he doesn't really mean them to be harsh. Trump's MO is beating his competitors and then allowing them to be nice to him. That wears on you after a while.).
Rush once said that while nobody really graduates from the EIB institute, if there ever was a graduate of the EIB Institute, it was DeSantis.
If it's a battle between the two, steel will sharpen steel and a better candidate will come out of it, either a better Trump, or a more polished DeSantis. What do the dems have that matches that momemntum right now? A tanned rested and ready Hillary? A palsied and mushmouthed Biden? Kamala? All things considered, I like the right's hand much better than the left's hand.
