I disagree -- I think that for all his human shortcomings, King was sincere in his beliefs and would have continued to espouse those beliefs, and campaign and fight for the legitimate rights of black people.
However, that position would have put him at variance with Jackson and the other civil rights leaders that came later. He would have probably called them out for their hatred, their hypocrisy, and their greed.
And so instead of being killed by James Earl Ray, he would have been killed by people like Jackson. Not personally, mind you; they would use proxies, or he would have "hung himself".
Jackson was a protege/follower of MLK. He was there when MLK was shot, wiping MKL’s blood on his shirt front. Jackson at one time said he was against abortion. So did many white Dems but over the years, as they wanted support from specific groups, they abandoned their “principles” and went full leftist agenda. I sincerely believe MLK would have done the same.
