On September 19th, 2021, Ian Cranston was with his fiancee, Allie Butler, when he was attacked causing him to shoot and kill 22-year-old Barry Washington outside a bar in Bend, Oregon.
Washington had been acting erratically earlier that night. Washington had propositioned Cranston’s fiancee, inside the bar. After a second proposition had been rejected, outside the bar, Washington attacked Cranston. Cranston displayed his firearm to deter further attack. Then Washington attacked Cranston’s friend and started to come at Cranston and his fiancee again. Cranston fired one shot. Washington went down. Reportedly Cranston immediately attempted to apply first aid, but the shot proved fatal.
There is said to be video evidence from multiple angles. From ktvz.com:
In a statement to media, Sali added: “On behalf of Mr. Cranston, and particularly in light of the false and inflammatory public statements made previously by the District Attorney’s office, we are immensely grateful that the events of that evening were comprehensively and accurately captured on video by multiple cameras. For our part, we will continue to make our case in court, where it belongs, and based on the evidence, as it should be.”
Cranston’s lawyer gave a summation of the events shown in the video, which has not been released to the public. From ktvz.com:
Shortly after midnight, Sali said, “Washington suddenly and without any provocation attacked Cranston … with two powerful, closed-fist blows to the head,” causing a head injury. The lawyer said “Washington raised his arm and made a series of threatening gestures toward him,” by which time Cranston – who had a concealed handgun license – was holding his gun, and displayed it to Washington to “deter … the assault.”
But the threats continued, he claimed, and Washington “lunged towards (Cranston’s friend) and punched him in the face.”

So now videos can be racis’? :-} The shooting? Not so much. Didn’t find the link for the video. Will the shooter’s employment at Nosler be a factor? I notice the POS da commented the deceased “complimented” the lady.
Good luck with that.
Travis McMichael, 35, his father, Gregory McMichael, 66, and neighbor William "Roddie" Bryan thought video evidence would exonerate them...
They were convicted in November on a raft of charges, including felony murder, for Arbery's death.
The shooter lured the victim with the “forbidden fruit” /s
I don’t think Arberry was serving up knuckle sandwiches, though — which makes this incident markedly different, don’t you think?
Yes, I watched the video multiple times and it's clear he acted in self-defense.
Arbery could have run around their truck and kept going – he had already done that twice – or he could have turned off the road into unfenced land. Instead, he ran toward the pickup, darted around it, and made for Travis, who was holding a shotgun. The moment of contact is off camera, but the men are seen grappling for the gun as shots go off.The first prosecutor on the case, George Barnhill, interviewed the three men, watched the video, and wrote a report to explain why he did not bring charges. He stated that the men were making a legal citizen’s arrest, were legally armed, and had probable cause to think Arbery was a burglar. Mr. Barnhill added, “[A]t the point Arbery grabbed the shotgun, under Georgia law, McMichael was allowed to use deadly force to protect himself.” Mr. Bryan later released the video, thinking it would calm blacks who were complaining that charges should be brought. Instead, there was outrage.

So yeah, I'd say the shooting was justified in this case.
Multiple rejected sexual propositions are NOT "compliments"!
Defending yourself against continued assault is NOT "murder" or "racism".
see my tagline...
Important part:
Ian Cranston is a 27-year-old machinist employed at the world-famous Nosler bullet-making company in Bend, Oregon.
They want to hang him because he works for an ammo company.
Re: your tagline.
Another way to say that, using a well-known quote as a template, is “making accusations of racism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.”
I had this as my tagline many moons ago, and even someone on DU took umbrage to it.
I’m shocked, probably not why you think.
For whatever reason someone was SHOT and within seconds I could hear multiple people laughing and the clinking of glasses. Must be they couldn’t hear the shot or thought it was a backfire etc.
If otherwise the level of morality had dropped in some areas equal to a Mogadishu etc.
If they think it’s racist then why don’t they let it be shown and proven racist for everyone to see. But they can’t because it shows exactly the opposite. They are hiding it and claiming it proves something that it doesn’t. The only way they can get away with this is to hide the video proof and continually put forth the lie.
What was Washington’s criminal history? Employment? Was he a chronic drunk or was that night special?
So now videos can be racis’? :-}

That is the driving force that propelled development of color film over black and white.

I could have sworn I head someone use the N-word right before he lunged last and then got shot. It shouldn’t matter, but you know how that will play out.
:-}
They chased him down as he ran away and shot him. Little different there, buddy.
